Columbus Clippers and Mount Carmel Bring Vaccinations to Fans

-

COLUMBUS – The Columbus Clippers and Mount Carmel Health System are offering COVID-19 vaccinations to attending baseball fans at Huntington Park May 11 through May 16.

The six-day vaccine clinic will allow fans ages 18 and older to receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine while at the ballpark to watch a game. Fans interested in receiving a vaccine will only need to visit the clinic, located behind home plate, to get their shot. The clinic will offer vaccines from the time gates open to the end of the third inning.

There will be multiple opportunities this week for fans to get vaccinated at Huntington Park. The Clippers still have tickets available for home games Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights and afternoon games on Thursday and Sunday. The clinic vaccinated 39 fans at Tuesday’s home opener.

Added touches were recently put into place at the site of an old bridge that was rebuilt last year in Richland County. Crew members returned to North Lake Park to install capstones along the top of the historic bridge had reopened late in 2020 following a more than three-month construction project. Last year, team members were able to use recycled stones from the original bridge to use in the new bridge that was nearing its re-opening as Christmas 2020 approached. At the time of the reopening, winter weather had arrived so the capstone installation took place in spring 2021 as shown April 27. The bridge is only a short distance from the Richland B&O Bike Trail used by Shelby area visitors.
