Anna L. Tackett, age 91, longtime resident of Plymouth and currently of Ashland, died Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Florida.

Anna was born December 5, 1929 in Salyersville, KY. She had worked at Pioneer Rubber Company and RR Donnelley in Willard prior to beginning her work at Shelby Business Forms. She worked the majority of her career there, retiring under the UFORMA ownership after many years of service.

Anna was truly a sweet, gentle, and kind woman. To her, the most important things in life were faith, family, and service to others- always putting others before herself. She cherished her family and was always sure to acknowledge a birthday or anniversary. For over 50 years, she has purchased Hallmark Christmas ornaments for her grandchildren. In fact, she had already bought and wrapped them for this year- a truly bittersweet gift for each of them this Christmas. An excellent cook, Anna was known for her outstanding chicken and dumplings at family reunions, thoroughly enjoyed making Christmas cookies, and her infamous peanut butter fudge, a family favorite, was made and mailed to family wherever they lived.

Together with her late husband, Bob, she has wintered in Sarasota since 1995. She was certainly a valued and loved member of the Cedar Cove Community. Anna and Bob also enjoyed playing shuffleboard. She was a member of the Plymouth Lions Club where she had been awarded Lion of the Year and was a Melvin Jones Fellow recipient. Anna was also a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Salyersville, KY and had attended Stone Valley United Baptist Church in Mansfield and United Baptist Church in Shelby.

Anna’s husband, Robert J. Tackett, passed away on March 10, 2019. They married March 15, 1947 and celebrated 72 years of marriage together. Also preceding her in death was her father: Orville Hicks; her mother: Inez (Arnett) Hicks Marshall; her step-father: Guy Marshall; grandchildren: Tami Tackett Wyse and Mason Bell; and a brother-in-law: Bill Reagan. Anna is survived by a son: Bobby Tackett of Westerville; a daughter: Patricia (Larry) Laser of Ashland; grandchildren: Tracie Tackettpenrod, Ryan (Ann) Tackett, Andrew Tackett, Lana (David) Bell, and Amy (Ken) Shakley; a grandson-in-law: Derek Wyse; great grandchildren: Brenden & Kiera Wyse, Keller, Madelyn & Lenore Penrod, Tyrod Allen, Ryan & Ava Tackett, Nicholas & Hailey Taylor, Kyle Bell & Adam Bell, and Seth Shakley & Lexie Shakley; great great grandsons: Ashton Penrod & Lane Shakley; a sister: Ruie Reagan of Norwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcome on Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 11 am - 1 pm at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will immediately follow at 1 pm. The family requests that visitors kindly wear masks. Pastor Tony Blair will officiate the services with burial following in Greenlawn Cemetery, Plymouth.
