- By Emily Schwan

Jordan Green grew up on Plum Ave. in Shelby where his parents currently reside. Some of his favorite memories of living in Shelby include playing with the other kids in his neighborhood. He said they had competitive games of wiffle ball, kickball, pickup basketball, and capture the flag. Jordan attended St. Mary’s for preschool and kindergarten and then attended Shelby City Schools for first through twelfth grade. He enjoyed spending time around the lunch table with his friends, supporting the Whippet sports teams, and playing on the Shelby Golf Team. His favorite place to go when he comes home is to Paul’s for some ice cream.

Jordan was enrolled in the College Now Business Administration program through North Central State where he graduated with his associate degree two weeks before he graduated from Shelby High School. He then completed his undergrad at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio from 2018 to 2020. He moved to Buffalo, NY to become an Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant at Canisius College from August 2020 to October 2021 when he left to accept his current role at Jacksonville University. Jordan received his master’s degree from Canisius College in Sport Administration this past May at 21 years old. He currently lives in Jacksonville, Florida where he works at Jacksonville University as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications.

Jordan said that he misses the small town feel and camaraderie of Shelby. He loves that the community backs and supports each other’s successes. “Having gone to school in Cleveland, then working in Buffalo and now Jacksonville, I’ve come to cherish the smalltown community that we have in Shelby. That’s what makes it so special when I am able to come home,” he said. Jordan loves coming home to Shelby and catching up with old friends and classmates. He wants to be a representation of the good in the Shelby community no matter where he goes in life.
