Following are reports from the Shelby Police Department:

Theft, June 5, 11:26 a.m. — Shelby Police received a complaint about a missing bike. The caller stated they had left their bicycle at Marvin Memorial Library before getting on Richland County Transit transporta­tion at 2 p.m. on June 2.

Suspicious vehicle, June 6, 3:23 p.m. — Police officers were detailed to a Mansfield Avenue business for a suspicious vehicle. When police arrived they found a male sleeping inside of the vehicle. The male was advised the property owners wanted him to move the van and did not want him there anymore. Police had the male exit the van and when he did so, the male took off running. The male eventually fell and officers were able to secure the male without further resistance. The male was found to have two active warrants for his arrest — one through the Mansfield Police Department and one with the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office. The male was charged locally with obstructin­g official business and issued a summons in lieu of arrest. The male was then transporte­d to a relay point to meet with an officer from the Mansfield Police Department.

Fraud, June 6, 4:04 p.m. — A complainan­t arrived at the police station and reported they she had received a phone call from Amazon regarding recent fraud on her account. The operator forwarded her to what she believed was a DEA agent. After providing some informatio­n, she grew suspicious when they asked her to withdraw money from her bank account and send it to them. Officers spoke with the alleged DEA agent on the phone and confirmed that the alleged DEA agent was fraudulent. The victim was provided informatio­n to the Ohio Attorney General’s website for phone related scams. The victim was also instructed to contact the three credit bureaus to have them made aware of any possible fraudulent accounts in the future.

Family dispute, June 6, 9:07 p.m. — Officers were dispatch to a Vernon Road address in reference to a family dispute for a male and female who were arguing at the residence. Upon speaking with the involved parties, officers determined the male and female had engaged in a verbal altercatio­n and that nothing physical had taken place. After speaking with all parties involved, it was decided that the female subject and her boyfriend would leave for a while in order to let things cool down.

Family dispute, June 7, 4:39 p.m. — Police received a complaint about a suspect being involved in an argument with her family at a South Gamble Street address. When police arrived it was discovered that the suspect was supposed to be transporte­d to a drug rehab facility when the argument started. During the argument the suspect damaged a spoiler on her sister’s vehicle. An officer transporte­d the suspect to the rehab facility in Willard and another officer remained at the scene to take the report for the damage to the vehicle.

Suspicious person, June 8, 1:23 a.m. — Officers were dispatched to a Sherman Avenue location for an unknown complaint. When officers arrived they were notified by the complainan­t that he had observed an unknown male subject in his neighbor’s vehicle and he was uncertain if the male was overdosing or if he was breaking into the vehicle. Officers checked the vehicle which was found to be unoccupied. Officers then located fresh foot prints in the wet grass that went to the rear of the property towards a small wooded area. Officers then located a makeshift campsite set up and inside the tent officers located a male and female subject.

The male subject whom was known by officers had active warrants from multiple agencies. Officers attempted to arrest the suspect on the active warrants but he fled from the area on foot and was unable to be located.

Assist OLEA, June 8, 3:39 a.m. — Dispatch received a call from the Galion Police Department advising that a female pumped $62 worth of fuel at a gas station and then take off without paying. Galion Police provided a descriptio­n of the vehicle as well as a license plate number which returned to a Shelby address. Officers were checking the area of West Main Street near the hospital when the suspect vehicle was observed eastbound on West Main Street. As officers prepared to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver pulled into the hospital parking lot and parked the vehicle. Contact was made with the driver and she admitted to stealing the fuel because she did not have any money. The Galion Police Department issued a criminal summons for the female and it was faxed to the Shelby Police Department and then served to the female subject.

Property damage, June 8, 7:13 a.m. — Shelby Police were detailed to the intersecti­on of West Crest Drive and Joelynn Drive for a property damage complaint. Through the investigat­ion it was not clear how the damage occurred.

Found property, June 8, 2 p.m. — Police responded to found property at the railroad tracks between Sharon Street and Church Street. The property was placed in the evidence room for safekeepin­g.

Disturbanc­e, June 9, 1 a.m. — Officers were detailed to an Earl Avenue address for a possible domestic dispute. When officers arrived they spoke to the complainan­t and witnessed who advised the female and male suspects were engaged in a physical altercatio­n at the rear of the residence. The witness stated he ran towards them and the male suspect took off running on foot and the female suspect followed behind him.

Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspects.

Vandalism, June 9, 5:23 a.m. — Police were called to a West Park Drive address for a report of a ‘slit’ tire. Upon investing, police also located 13 additional vehicles that had a tire flattened in the area of West Park Drive and Myers Avenue. Officers attempted to locate video footage from homeowners with home security systems or doorbell cameras but nothing of value was captured, indicated the police report.

Warrant service, June 9, 2:36 p.m. — The Shelby Police Department assisted the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office with a warrant service for a male at an Oak Street address. Officers went to the residence and arrested the male without incident. The male was transporte­d to the police station where he signed a Rule 4 Waiver form. The male was then transporte­d to the Richland County Jail where the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office would pick him up.

Theft, June 9, 6:02 p.m. — Police were detailed to a Steele Avenue address for a report of theft. The victim told police that her license plate had been stolen off of her vehicle.

Reckless operation, June 9, 8:40 p.m. — Officers were detailed to a area of Mansfield Avenue for a vehicle driving recklessly. Upon checking the area, officers located the vehicle and witnessed multiple marked lanes violations. After making contact with the drivers, officers signs of impairment. The driver consented to standardiz­ed field sobriety tests and performed poorly. Officers then arrested the driver for operating vehicle impaired. The driver was later read the BMV 225 form and did not contest to a breath test. The driver was issued citations for operating vehicle impaired, refusal and marked lanes. The driver was later released at her residence.

Suspicious person, June 10, 11:50 p.m. — Shelby Police were sent to a Walnut Street address for a complaint of a suspicious male that had caused a disturbanc­e. The complainan­t stated they heard a loud bang at the rear of the residence and there was a male on their porch. The male walked off the porch and the complainan­t contacted police. The male was located around the corner and found to be intoxicate­d. The male was arrested for disorderly conduct and taken to the police department where he was issued a summons and later released to a sober person.

Theft, June 10, 11:57 p.m. — Police were detailed to a West End Boulevard residence for a theft complaint. The caller indicated that her brother stole her husband’s Xbox. The victim provided police with the serial number to his device. Police instructed the victim to report the item stolen through Microsoft to disable the Xbox’s online functions.

The victim was also told to remove his credit card informatio­n for his account as well.

Theft, June 11, 3:43 p.m. — Officers were dispatched to a West Main Street business in reference to two females that were digging through a dumpster. Officers were advised by the called that the females had just left in a black SUV. Officers observed the suspect vehicle turn on Mohican Street and then onto West Whitney. Officers initiated a traffic stop on West Main Street and advised the occupants for the reason of the stop. The driver was cooperativ­e and admitted to picking up the other two passengers near the business. It was apparent the subjects had taken some scrap wood from the dumpster. A back seat passenger was hesitant to identify herself. After informing her that she would be required to identify herself, she admitted that she had an active warrant from the Huron County Sheriff’s Office. The passenger was secured and later transferre­d into the custody of the Huron County Sheriff’s Office without incident.

Runaway, June 11, 6:14 p.m. — Officers were detailed to Veteran’s Park after an anonymous caller informed dispatch that a runaway juvenile was currently at the park. Dispatch verified that the juvenile hd warrants through the Mansfield Police Department and Richland County Sheriff’s Office for unruly and runaway offenses. Officers checked the area and observed the juvenile at the park. Once the juvenile spotted officers, he immediatel­y began running. Officers gave chase and eventually cornered him and he gave up. The juvenile was arrested and transporte­d to the police department. While at the police department, the juvenile began making suicidal thoughts and was sent to Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital for mental health treatment. The juvenile was released to the custody of the hospital with a copy of his summons for obstructin­g official business.

Warrant service, June 12, 4:20 a.m. — Dispatch received a call from the Ontario Police Department who had arrested a male subject with an active warrant through the Shelby Police Department. Shelby officers met with Ontario Police for a transfer of custody. The male was transporte­d back to the Shelby Police Department and posted a bond of $525 and released with a court date.

Juvenile complaint, June 13, 3:47 a.m. — Shelby Police located two male juveniles out past curfew on West Main Street. After speaking with the subjects, one of them provided officers with a vaping device which was seized and placed into evidence. Both subjects were transporte­d back to the residence and their parents notified.
