Get Ready for Shelby’s 2022 Bicycle Days

Bicycle Days is a beloved tradition in Shelby and the Community Improvemen­t Corporatio­n is working hard again this year to make it a great celebratio­n. Shelby’s 2022 Bicycle Days are on Friday July 8 and Saturday July 9. There are activities and events happening all day on both days. Any informatio­n you might need about the 2-day festival is on the Shelby CIC’S website. Ashley Meyer and Jordyn Schaich are the 2022 Festival Chairs and have worked tirelessly to make this event possible.

Friday, July 8, 2022: The Midway opens at 11:00AM. There will be food trucks, and nonfood vendors as well as inflatable­s and games. At 12:00PM, there will be a Rotary Community Lunch. Michael Mage the Magician performs at the Black Fork

Amphitheat­er at 4:00PM. At 6:00PM in the W.W. Skiles Field Parking Lot, there will be a Kids’ Safety Spot where children can explore a variety of safety service vehicles during this community touch a truck event. To finish out the day, The Shelby Rotary Club will be holding a Bike-in movie at W.W. Skiles Field at dark.

Saturday, July 9, 2022: The day begins early with the Tenth Annual Lindy Flyer Community Bike Tour at 8:30AM. The tour will meet on the corner of W. Main St. and Washington St. at the flag park. There are five bike routes that can be toured at any time and they can be downloaded on the Shelby CIC website. The Shelby Farmers’ Market begins at 9:00AM at Black Fork Commons and runs until 12:00PM. From 10:00AM to 3:00PM, the Shelby Bicycle Museum located at the Shelby Justice Center will be holding their open house. The Midway opens again at 11:00AM with food trucks, non-food vendors, inflatable­s, and games. There will be a Kids’ Bike Clinic at Seltzer Park Tennis Courts starting at 11:00AM where kids can learn how to successful­ly tune up their bicycles and how to safely ride this summer while completing an obstacle course.

Also starting at 11:00AM at the Seltzer Park Tennis Courts, there will be a Bike Decorating Contest where you can grab a free kit which includes supplies to decorate your bike. The Shelby Bicycle Days Parade begins at 2:00PM and you can gather to watch along Main Street and Gamble Street. Directly following the parade at the Central Park Gazebo, you can bid on your favorite pie to help support the efforts of Shelby Help Line Ministries. At 4:00PM at W.W. Skiles Field, Kids’ Minispokes will have a collection of fun challenges for kids to complete. Then, at the Black Fork Commons Amphitheat­er at 7:30PM, there will be live music performed. To finish out the Bicycle Days weekend, there will be a gorgeous fireworks display at W.W. Skiles Field starting at dark. The gates open at 7:00PM.
