Ganges Garden Club

Twelve members of Ganges Garden Club (Ohio Associatio­n of Garden Clubs) met on June 9, 2022, at the home of Sherry Huff. Members present were Mary Barber, Joanne Claytor, Kitty Company, Judy Hess, Sherry Huff, Kay Jenney, Starr Kessler, Barb Lantz, Fran Miller, Phyllis Rhodes, Lindalee Strain and Myra Snider. Members toured the gardens surroundin­g Sherry’s home before they gathered in the sunroom for a business meeting. Hostessess Sherry and Lindalee served refreshmen­ts.

President Mary Barber opened the meeting by thanking the hostesses. Roll call was answered by, “What is new in your garden this year?” A variety of plants were mentioned and discussed. During Committee Reports, Sherry reported on activities and events at Kingwood Center Gardens. Free summer concerts are to be held each Thursday evening in July. Everyone is encouraged to visit Kingwood in all its glory and to check out their website for more informatio­n. Several club members volunteer at the local attraction. Regarding Civic and Community Beautifica­tion, members had helped with the Downtown Mansfield project during May and planted the large containers along Main Street. The club also planted an area at Crestview Middle School.

In New Business, a local venue is being sought for the Region 7 Fall Meeting in October. Richland and Ashland county clubs are in charge and committees are formed.

Ganges Garden Club is planning a trip to Orville and Wooster on July 14 for a tour of Lavender Trails and Secrest Arboretum with lunch at Pine Tree Barn.
