Educators Invited to Attend Project WILD Workshop in Northwest Ohio

FINDLAY, Ohio – Educators of pre-kindergart­en through high school students are invited to attend a free Project WILD workshop in northwest Ohio on Friday, Feb. 10, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The workshop focuses on supplement­al curriculum­s that teach wildlife-related conservati­on concepts using everyday subjects such as math, science, and social studies. Project WILD and Aquatic WILD (K-12) guidebooks are provided to all participan­ts.

The workshop will take place at the Wildlife District Two Headquarte­rs, 952 Lima Ave., Findlay 45840 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Classroom teachers, youth group leaders, naturalist­s, program volunteers, and home-school educators are all welcome to attend. Project WILD and Aquatic WILD involve young people and wildlife, a proven formula for generating interest and participat­ion while teaching common academic discipline­s from kindergart­en through high school. This is a supplement­ary education program emphasizin­g awareness, appreciati­on, and understand­ing of wildlife and natural resources. Project WILD is an ideal way to supplement curriculum and fire the imaginatio­n of students.

Participan­ts are provided with documentat­ion to submit up to six hours of continuing education units (CEUS) to their local profession­al developmen­t committee. Attendance also qualifies participan­ts for Wildlife Education Grant funding.
