Drug & Alcohol Prevention Contest

- By From Richland County Youth Substance Use Coalition

What is the contest?

Create posters, flyers, artwork, videos (Tiktok, Instagram, etc.), haikus, songs, or poems that have a

drug/alcohol prevention message.

Like memes? That’s fair game as long as it’s educational. Keep messages short and sweet to educate friends, family, and Richland County on the facts about youth drug/ alcohol use.

Participation Criteria Use family friendly language and images. You must be attending elementary, middle, high, or home school. You may work alone, with a group, or your entire class if your teacher allows it!

What’s in it for me?

Top submissions can win $100 gift cards. Other submissions have opportunities to win additional gift cards. You will have your work seen and shared by Richland County agencies and you will also learn facts about drug/alcohol prevention as you create different media. Have fun with your friends!

Submission Criteria Please submit your work on drugfreerc. org/contest or email it to gdeol@richlandhealth. org. Include your name, email, grade, school, and a description of your submission. If you’re working with others, include their contact info so they can be recognized too! The deadline for submission is Monday, February 20th at 11:59pm.

What happens next?

After February 20th, submissions that met the participation criteria will be voted on by students. Pick high-quality submissions that have the best prevention messages! All submissions will be shared via social media, local news, on our website, and more. Keep the conversation going! Create t-shirts, hats, or other clothing with prevention messages/memes. If you want to do more activities like this, share your ideas and consider joining the Richland County Youth Substance Use Coalition.
