Fatal three-vehicle crash on Ohio Turnpike
ELYRIA --The Milan Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a three-vehicle fatal crash along the Ohio Turnpike, authorities said.
The crash occurred at 12:34 p.m. Saturday on the Ohio Turnpike in Elyria, east of the state Route 57 interchange.
The preliminary investigation showed an eastbound Subaru Crosstrek, operated by Jackson Williams, 23, Broadview Heights, drove off the left side of the roadway after losing control and struck the concrete median barrier wall, the patrol said.
The Subaru then came back onto the roadway and struck the trailer of a Peterbilt semi-tractor, operated by Jonathan Pate, 30, Dallas, and was then struck by a Dodge Ram, operated by Gary Clark, 59, Centerville, Mich., authorities said.
Williams suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Pate and Clark were not injured.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Elyria Fire Department, Lorain County Coroner’s Office, Lifecare EMS, Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission, and Rich’s Towing Service.
The crash remains under investigation at this time. Impairment does not appear to be a factor in this crash and all parties involved were wearing their safety belts.
