Franklin W. Stein, 90, of Duncombe, Iowa, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at his home. He was born Feb. 27, 1924, in Iowa, to Frank and Isabelle Stein.

He enlisted in the United States Army Air Force in 1943, serving his country in the Philippian­s until his honorable discharge in 1946. He married Gladys Payment on Aug. 5, 1967, in Eagle Grove, Iowa.

He was a very familyorie­nted man. He enjoyed working in the outdoors, tending to his yard or helping others. He loved watching profession­al wrestling and the soaps on television. He enjoyed a good joke, hamburgers and French fries.

He was preceded in death by four children and two sisters.

He is survived by eight children, Frank Hurt and wife Marilyn of Webster City, Iowa, Ed Hurt and wife Edna of Gentry, Ark., Linda Caruth of Duncombe, Iowa, Vicky Ely of Moorland, Iowa, Debi Fallis of Boone, Iowa, Terri Hoefer of Humboldt, Iowa, Jerry Stein and Shelly of South Carolina and Mike Stein of Austria; two brothers, Gerald Stein of Knoxville, Iowa, and Dean Stein of Knoxville, Iowa; one sister, Linda Wiggens of Tennessee; 31 grandchild­ren; 41 great-grandchild­ren; and 13 greatgreat-grandchild­ren.

Interment of his ashes will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at Fayettevil­le National Cemetery in Fayettevil­le, Ark., with the Rev. Richard Hogan officiatin­g.

Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, Ark., is in charge of arrangemen­ts.
