Heritage League Rummage Sale

Siloam Springs Heritage League will hold a Rummage Sale from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 at First Assembly of God, located at 927 South Oak Hill Street. Items for sale will include furniture, baby and children’s toys, clothes and household items. Proceeds will benefit Heritage League projects such as local scholarshi­ps, area families in need and the Siloam Springs Christmas Parade. Mother/Son dance

Siloam Springs’ Parks and Recreation department is hosting its annual Mother/ Son dance on Saturday, Oct. 15. The dance, which lasts from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., will be held in the Community Building. Tickets cost $15 for a mother and two sons; admittance for additional sons costs $5 each. Tickets are available at the Parks and Recreation office through 5:00 p.m. on Oct. 14. There will be no ticket sales at the door.

Life Chain 2016

The Benton County Chapter of Arkansas Right to Life invites the public to join the Life Chain 2016 event from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2. Registrati­on begins 15 minutes prior to the start.

The annual, silent, prayerful demonstrat­ion allows participan­ts to take a stand against abortion and for the unborn. Everyone is welcome; safety will be stressed to participan­ts.

The Siloam Springs location is in front of 2B’s Auto Sales, 2100 U. S. Highway 412 East.

Senior Center Chili Supper

The 39th annual Siloam Springs Senior Activity and Wellness Center Chili Supper will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7. The event will help raise money for the Senior Center and will include “all you can eat” home cooked chili, real potato soup, dessert and a beverage. The meal is $6 for adults and $4 for kids age 10 and under. The Senior Center is located at 750 Heritage Court. For more informatio­n call 479-524-5735.

Siloam Springs Writers Announce Winners

Siloam Springs Writers Guild will announce winners of the annual Poem of the Year contest at their Thursday, Oct. 6, meeting at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 2000 West Dawn Hill Road. Use west side entrance. Sandra Van Thiel will be the speaker of the evening. Meals on Wheels

The Siloam Springs Senior Activity and Wellness Center’s Meals on Wheels program is in need of a volunteer to deliver meals every Wednesday. The route starts at 10:45 a.m. and takes about an hour to complete. Call 524-5735 for more informatio­n.

Fundraiser breakfast/band

The Siloam Springs Senior Activity and Wellness Center will host a weekly fundraiser breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. every Friday at the center, located at 750 Heritage Court. The fundraiser is open to all ages. The center will also host the OK Country Band at 1 p.m. the first Thursday of every month. The performanc­e is free and open to anyone.

New collection of children’s books

Local master gardener and children’s author, Dawn Denton, donated 30 percent of her book sale proceeds for the months of October, November, and December of 2015 to the Friends of the Siloam Springs Library Foundation. Her donation will purchase an award-winning collection of nature and garden-themed children’s books for the Siloam Springs Public Library. Denton’s goal is to see children and parents in our community being inspired by reading to get outside and make new discoverie­s in nature. This year, Denton plans to donate a percentage of her book sale proceeds to the library’s children’s collection again over the months of October, November, and December. Class of 1976 reunion

Siloam Springs High School class of 1976 is planning its 40th reunion. A gathering will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 30, at the Arvest Bank Community Room, followed by a reunion at 6 p.m. Oct. 1 at Inn at the Springs.
