Runners compete at Rim Rock

LAWRENCE, Kan. — The top seven runners from both the Siloam Springs girls and boys cross country teams competed Saturday in the Rim Rock Farm Classic hosted by the University of Kansas cross country program.

The meet is held on Rim Rock Farm — a 125-acre farm approximat­ely 11 miles north of Lawrence that is the home course for the University of Kansas.

“Rim Rock is such a challengin­g course,” said Siloam Springs cross country coach Sharon Jones. “I was happy with most of the times there. The girls finished well as a team, too. It’s an enjoyable trip for these kids and I’m glad we can do this for them.”

The Lady Panthers finished 12th out of 37 teams competing in the Crimson division.

Jasmine Guillen led the Lady Panthers with a 47th place finish out of 274 runners with a time of 21 minutes, 32.20 seconds.

Britney Pilcher was 59th overall at 21:48.10, while Caroline Farine was 96th at 22:17.10.

Allika Pearson took 98th at 22:17.90, followed by Chloe McGooden in 106th at 22:22.40, Rachel Thompson 221st at 23:55.00 and Lily Slater 248th at 24:50.90.

Metro Christian Academy out of Tulsa, Okla., finished first overall, while Rogers was the top team from Arkansas with a sixth-place finish.

The Siloam Springs boys finished 36th out of 40 schools competing in the Crimson Division. A total of 298 runners competed in the race.

Parker Wallis led the Panthers with a finish of 18:30.70, good for 111th place, while Isaac Leachman was 153rd at 18:54.60.

David Williams placed 210th at 19:30.30, while Caleb Ellis was 226th at 19:36.50.

Samuel Granderson finished 260th with a time of 20:03.70, while Eli Hawbaker 271st at 20:36.80 and Charlie Jones 272nd at 20:39.20.

Rogers High finished first overall. Diego Contreras, who finished first overall at the Panther Cross Country Classic on Sept. 17, finished seventh overall with a time of 16:48.20.
