Siloam Springs junior high teams take first place

Both teams will compete this weekend in the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayettevil­le.

BERRYVILLE — The Siloam Springs junior high cross country teams each took first place in the Class 6A-7A division of the Berryville Invitation­al on Saturday.

The Panthers and Lady Panthers got their first top finishes of the season despite it being the “hottest race day of the year and the rolling hills” of Carroll County, according to head coach Conlan Efurd.

Both teams showed a super “gut check” in the meet, Efurd said.

Panthers

Thomas Bridgeman ran a time of 11 minutes, 43.81 seconds to place second overall as the Panthers finished with a score of 40 points to take first as a team.

Bentonvill­e Washington had 47 points, followed by Rogers Heritage 62, Bentonvill­e Fulbright 90 and Springdale Lakeside 93.

Kerrig Kelly ran a time of 11:55.75 and finished fifth overall, while Michael Capehart was seventh at 12:06.88.

Tyler Sharp placed 13th at 12:37.62, while Isaac Price finished in 15th at 12:41.69. Yanni Trinidad took 24th at 13:01.27, while Chase Mills finished 25th at 13:03.96 to round out the Panthers’ top seven scores.

Blake Morrison finished 28th at 13:08.73, followed by Adam Kennedy in 29th at 13:09.03, Andy Almanza 37th at 13:31.81, Jason Flores 38th at 13:36.37, Javier Chavez 44th at 13:48.50 and Avrey Della Rosa 48th at 13:56.08.

Blaise Becan was 52nd at 14:07.45, while Dakota Collette finished 54th at 14:13.39, Seth Funk 64th at 14:43.63, Tate Broquard 65th at 14:44.27, Nathan Blair 72nd at 15:02.35, Luke Fields 73rd at 15:02.48 and Jordyn Baskins 74th at 15:02.88.

Also running for the Panthers were Jacob Poor 84th at 15:29.76, Montana Herrell 87th at 15:34.84, Esai Flores 88th at 15:41.35, Logan Sharp 91st at 15:58.79 and Cole Geyer 97th at 16:04.66.

Lady Panthers

The Lady Panthers earned their first win of the season with 54 points to edge out Bentonvill­e Fulbright, which finished with 56. Bentonvill­e West had 71 points, followed by Rogers Heritage 110, Bentonvill­e Washington 112, Springdale George 137 and Springdale Lakeside 164.

Sydney Moorman finished fourth overall to lead the Lady Panthers with a time of 13:39.63.

Candy Dubon placed eighth at 14:02.05, while Kimberly Guillen was right behind her with a time of 14:10.52.

Kailey Pentz finished 16th at 14:44.13, followed by Rebekah Rodgers in 17th at 14:52.40.

Claudia Mercado finished 22nd with a time of 15:06.90, while Hannah Glass rounded out the Lady Panthers’ top seven score in 23rd with a mark of 15:20.68.

Shayla Conley finished 33rd with a time of 15:44.95, while the next four runners finished in succession with Reanna Holmes in 34th at 15:52.65, Jacilyn Weilnah 35th at 16:02.63, Brooke Price 36th at 16:11.89 and Jordan Rush 37th at 16:15.56.

Leslie Cea was 40th with a time of 16:29.43, followed by Laurel Granderson in 43rd at 16:45.62 and Aurora Conroy 45th at 16:49.99.

Also running for the Lady Panthers were Lilly Cole in 53rd at 17:50.81, Mary Grace Green 54th at 17:52.48, Emma McLeod 61st at 18:10.78, Katie Low 62nd at 18:12.12 and Hannah Green 84th at 22:38.10.

Both junior high teams will run 5Ks instead of 2Ks at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayettevil­le, with the junior high boys race scheduled for 1:45 p.m., followed by the junior high girls at 2:30 p.m.
