Purple, Ramay win junior high football games
The Siloam Springs ninth-grade football team held Fayetteville Purple to a missed field goal on its opening drive and then took a 7-0 lead on its first possession.
But the Panthers were unable to sustain the lead as Purple won a high-scoring affair 41-28 in Panther Stadium.
After Tate Criner ran for a touchdown on the Panthers’ first possession, Purple scored 28 unanswered points — aided by a pair of turnovers — to take a 28-7 lead.
Siloam Springs (0-4) scored on its first two possessions of the second half on touchdown runs from Thad Wright and Damien Martin to cut the deficit to 34-21. Purple got a touchdown back to go up 4121, and Mason Lobb scored a fourth touchdown for Siloam Springs to set the final score.
Harrison Losh kicked all the point-after-touchdowns for Siloam Springs.
“The kids played hard all night,” said ninth-grade coach Jonathan Johnson. “Very proud of them.”
