Tax receipts up in September

Siloam Springs sales tax receipts were up $83,282 in September compared to the same month last year.

Sales tax receipts were $646,441 in September of 2016, compared to $563,159 in September of the previous year, according to the October issue of City & Town Magazine.

County sales tax receipts were up $18,408 from $234,871 in September of 2015 to $253,278 in September of 2016.

The city’s sales tax receipts come from its 2 percent sales tax. The total sales tax rate in Siloam Springs is 9.5 percent.

City sales tax receipts are used for utility infrastruc­ture, repayment of wastewater treatment plant bonds, the city’s general fund, public safety and the street department.

A share of county sales tax receipts pays on two water utility infrastruc­ture bonds.

Other cities that saw an increase in city sales tax receipts were:

• Bentonvill­e, up $248,551 to $1.96 million

• Eureka Springs, up $64,983 to $330,037

• Fayettevil­le, up $183,352 to $3.46 million

• Lincoln, up $672 to $42,586

• Rogers, up $272,386 to $2.9 million

• Springdale, up $241,229 to $2.4 million.

Cities that saw a decrease in city sales tax receipts were:

• Gentry, down $1,037 to $48,212.
