Junior high boys fifth at cross country meet

VAN BUREN — The Siloam Springs junior high boys cross country team finished fifth in the 5A-7A division Saturday at the Van Buren Classic.

Springdale Central won the meet with 34 points, followed by host Van Buren 91, Fayettevil­le Woodland 95, Bentonvill­e 103, Siloam Springs 122, Fayettevil­le 132, Fayettevil­le Ramay 156, Fort Smith Ramsey 234, Fort Smith Chaffin 268 and Alma 291.

Thomas Bridgeman was the Panthers’ top runner, finishing 16th overall with a time of 12 minutes, 12.63 seconds.

Michael Capehart placed 21st at 12:25.95, while Isaac Price was 27th at 12:37.87 and Yanni Trinidad 33rd at 12:50.43.

Blake Morrison placed 45th at 12:59.29, Chase Mills 46th at 13:00.87 and Adam Kennedy rounded out Siloam Springs’ top seven scores in 49th at 13:05.18.

Jason Flores placed 58th at 13:20.67, followed by Andy Almanza in 71st at 13:42.93, Dakota Collette 77th at 13:48.74, Jordyn Baskins 93rd at 14:06.09, Javier Chavez 97th at 14:10.40 and Blaise Becan 98th at 14:10.57.

Avrey Della Rosa ran a time of 14:13.45, while Logan Sharp finished in 14:46.53, Tate Broquard 14:49.37, Jacob Poor 14:59.08, Luke Fields 15:04.10, Seth Funk 15:06.44, Caleb Poor 15:11.03, Ben Haak 15:20.15, Malachi Becan 15:33.32, Cole Geyer 15:33.58, Dylan Lawrence 15:55.78 and Montana Herrell 15:57.72.

Also running for Siloam Springs were Nathan Blair 16:00.09, Eladio Quinones 16:07.32, Landon Tyler 16:28.00, Hunter Keys 16:39.55, Matthew Hargett 17:06.13, Quinton Wilkie 17:36.17 and Christophe­r Svebek 17:43.44.

Junior high girls

The Siloam Springs girls finished fourth overall in the meet.

Fayettevil­le Woodland was first with 42 points, followed by Fayettevil­le Ramay 69, Springdale Central 70, Siloam Springs 95, Fayettevil­le White 127, Van Buren 182, Bentonvill­e 182, Fort Smith Chaffin 252, Fort Smith Darby 252 and Fort Smith Ramsey 264.

Sydney Moorman led the Lady Panthers with a 10thplace finish of 14:07.43.

Rebekah Rodgers finished 11th at 14:15.38, while Kailey Pentz was 17th at 14:29.57 and Claudia Mercado 32nd at 15:12.74.

Jacilyn Weilnah placed 34th at 15:13.60, Brooke Price 40th at 15:24.90 and Lilly Cole completed the top seven scores in 45th at 15:42.47.

Hannah Glass placed 46th at 15:44.50, followed by Reanna Holmes in 50th 15:58.89, Abby Thompson in 52nd at 16:05.18, Bethany Mejia 58th at 16:20.28, Shayla Conley 59th at 16:22.58, Leslie Cea 60th at 16:23.56, Laurel Granderson 61st at 16:26.01 and Jordan Rush 65th at 16:46.10.

Also running for Siloam Springs was Rebecca Largent 17:09.31, Aurora Conroy 17:18.74, Megan Greathouse 17:19.04, Sarah Hancock 17:19.96, Mary Grace Green 17:50.44, Katie Low 18:24.83, Samantha Largent 19:29.23 and Hannah Green 20:52.16.

Up next

The seventh- and eighth-grade cross country runners will compete Oct. 25 in Bentonvill­e, while the ninth-grade runners will participat­e in the 7A-West Conference meet in Rogers on Nov. 1.
