Trick or Treating events set

Siloam Springs and West Siloam Springs to host Halloween events.

Siloam Springs and neighborin­g West Siloam Springs are set to get spooky on Monday. Both cities will be holding trick-or-treat events on Monday, with West Siloam Springs’ event beginning at 3 p.m. and ending at 5 p.m. Siloam Springs’ event will begin 30 minutes later, at 3:30 p.m., and run until 5:30 p.m.

In West Siloam Springs, trickor-treat participan­ts can scare up some treats at city hall. Across the state line, Siloam Springs ghouls and goblins will be welcomed by local businesses downtown.

Between 15 and 20 downtown Siloam Springs business confirmed they will be passing out candy, according to Stacey Hester, director of downtown developmen­t and promotion for Main Street Siloam Springs. Several other organizati­ons have also obtained permits from the city to pass out candy downtown, she said.

Broadway Street, along with sections of University Street and Main Street will be closed from 2:30 to 6 p.m. for the event. Mt. Olive Street will remain open, but emergency management personnel will be directing traffic to create safe crossings for families, Hester said.

Main Street Siloam Springs is not sponsoring any additional programmin­g for the event this year, said Kelsey Howard, director of Main Street Siloam Springs. Howard said she is confidant that the event will create lots of memories for families and friends.
