Junior high runners compete in Bentonvill­e

Thomas Bridgeman set a new course record in Boys Open.

BENTONVILL­E — Freshman Thomas Bridgeman set a new course record Tuesday at the Wolf Junior High Run hosted by Bentonvill­e Fulbright.

Bridgeman ran a firstplace time of 10 minutes, 30.03 seconds as the ninth-grade boys finished third overall in the Boys Open race. Springdale Central finished first with 29 points, followed by Rogers 47, Siloam Springs 72, Haas Hall 119, St. Vincent De Paul 124 and Arkansas Arts Academy 161.

Isaac Price finished 15th at 11:51.74, while Tyler Sharp was 25th at 12:22.49 and Chase Mills was 27th at 12:27.78. Adam Kennedy was 30th at 12:32.22, while Avrey Della Rosa was 47th at 13:09.09, Blaise Becan 48th at 13:13.23, Nathan Blair 53rd at 13:30.31 and Cole Geyer 67th at 14:19.54.

In the Girls Open, Rebekah Rodgers and Kaily Pentz placed second and third, respective­ly. Rodgers finished in 13:19.38, while Pentz ran a time of 13:23.21.

Claudia Mercado placed ninth at 13:53.61, while Mary Grace Green was 29th at 16:27.75.

Siloam Springs only had four freshman girls in the race — one runner short of the five required for a team score.

Springdale Central won the meet with 32 points, followed by Springdale George 64, St. Vincent De Paul 69, Rogers 79, and Arkansas Arts Academy 115

Wolf Run boys

The Wolf Run doubled as the Northwest Arkansas Conference championsh­ip for seventh- and eighthgrad­e boys and girls.

The Siloam Springs seventhand eighth-grade boys finished eighth overall.

Fayettevil­le Woodland won the meet with 73 points, while Springdale Central had 86, followed by Bentonvill­e schools Lincoln 100, Washington 110 and Fulbright 167, Rogers Elmwood 169, Fayettevil­le Ramay 195 and Siloam Springs 199. Rogers schools Kirksey and Lingle had 202 and 268 points, respective­ly, followed by Springdale schools Southwest 280 and Lakeside 317, Rogers Oakdale 339 and Springdale George 426.

Michael Capehart led the Panthers with a 14thplace finish of 11:32.59, followed by Yanni Trinidad in 26th at 11:53.62, Blake Morrison 43rd at 12:08.25 and Jason Flores 61st at 12:33.21.

Jordyn Baskins finished 74th at 12:42.77, Andy Almanza 80th at 12:46.87 and Dakota Collete 81st at 12:48.79 to round out the Panthers’ top seven scorers.

Javier Chavez ran a 12:53.21, while Tate Broquard finished in 13:17.81, Logan Sharp 13:35.01, Seth Funk 13:36.38, Esai Flores 13:40.72, Luke Fields 13:45.08 and Caleb Poor 13:57.94.

Also running for Siloam Springs were Jacob Poor 14:03.24, Quinton Wilkie 14:08.22, Ben Haak 14:28.47, Montana Herrell 14:44.76, Landon Tyler 14:45.48, Dylan Lawrence 15:02.91, Ryan Lane 15:08.14, Eladio Quinones 15:12.55, Malachi Becan 15:28.58, Matthew Hargett 15:40.88 and Christophe­r Svebek 16:15.71.

Wolf Run girls

The seventh- and eighth-grade girls finished sixth overall.

Woodland and Ramay tied for first with 82 points, with Woodland winning the tiebreaker. Fulbright was third at 95, followed by Central 105, Kirksey 107 and Siloam Springs 169. Lingle scored 195 points, followed by Lincoln 223, Washington 227, Elmwood 265, Lakeside 322, Southwest 322, Oakdale 365 and George 439

Sydney Moorman led the Lady Panthers with a 13th-place finish of 13:09.73, while Lilly Cole was 31st at 13:48.58 and Hannah Glass 38th at 13:52.69.

Jacilyn Weilnah placed 47th at 14:07.34, while Brooke Price 50th at 14:12.44, Reanna Holmes 55th at 14:20.55 and Leslie Cea 71st at 14:46.68 to complete the Lady Panthers’ top seven scores.

Bethany Mejia ran a time of 14:47.72, while Abby Thompson finished in 14:53.61, Shayla Conley 15:35.15 and Jordan Rush 15:42.62.

Also running for Siloam Springs were Rebecca Largent 15:45.82, Laurel Granderson 15:52.37, Sarah Hancock 15:55.02, Megan Greathouse 15:55.14, Aurora Conroy 16:06.31, Katie Low 17:17.96 and Hannah Green 22:09.99.

Up next

The Siloam Springs ninth-graders and a select group of seventh- and eighth-graders will run Tuesday in the 7A-West Conference Junior High Meet at Rogers.

The high school runners, including a select group of ninth-graders, will compete Thursday in the 6A-West Conference Meet hosted by Siloam Springs at the Simmons Course.
