Event offers opportunity to enjoy free family fun
Parks and Recreation will host its annual Family Game Night on Friday.
Bingo will return to the halls of the Community Building in downtown Siloam Springs this Friday, as the Siloam Springs Parks and Recreation department will host its annual family game night event.
The free event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 6 in the Community Building at 110 North Mt. Olive Street. The game night will last two hours, until 8:30 p.m.
Participants will have the
opportunity to play bingo in the front of the room, with a live caller and prizes for the winners. Recreation Coordinator Libby Garrison said the prizes will be gift cards to local businesses.
Behind the bingo tables will be a series of tables with other board games. Garrison said families are also welcome to bring their own games to play and share.
“It’s an inside opportunity to spend time with your family,” Garrison said. “I may have games that your family doesn’t have, so there is a chance for your kids to play something new.”
Garrison said the free event is well attended, drawing an average of 100 people. The event is not ticketed, and refreshments will be served.
The event is the first of the year for the Parks and Recreation department. The city is hosting its annual Daddy/Daughter Dance in February. The dance will be held in three different sessions depending on age group from Friday, Feb. 10 to Saturday, Feb. 11.
Tickets will go on sale for the dance on Jan. 9, and must be purchased in advance of the event. There will not be ticket sales at the door, according to the city’s website.
The dance will cost $15 for one dad and up to two daughters. Additional daughters can enter for $5 each. All sessions will be held at the Community Building.
The next month, the Parks and Recreation Department will host a free gardening workshop. Dawn Denton, who owns Gardens by You and Me, has set up a workshop with guest speakers scheduled for Saturday, March 11, from 9 a.m. to noon.
The gardening workshop will also be held at the Community Building. Registration is not required for the workshop, and door prizes will be awarded and refreshments will be provided.
