Omo, Cavness named 2017 Pioneer Citizens
Judy Omo and Jerry Cavness are the 2016 pioneer citizens, the Chamber of Commerce announced this week.
This year’s nominations put an emphasis on the nominees’ community service, according to a press release from the chamber. They will be honored at the annual chamber banquet on Feb. 2.
Omo has worked on many projects and volunteered with countless programs, some of which include Koala Park, The Manna Center, Adult Development Center and The Downtown Garden. She is also very active in the local chapter of the social sorority Beta Sigma Phi.
Cavness has been involved
with numerous nonprofit organizations in Siloam Springs since his retirement from what was then Allen Canning. He has a heart for serving others, which includes all Siloam Springs citizens. Cavness currently serves with the Civitan Club and recently completed a term as an interim member of the City Board of Directors.
The theme of this year’s chamber banquet will be “The Core of the Community,” highlighting local industry and manufacturing. Sponsors for this event include Nabholz Construction Services, Cox Communications, Cherokee Casino & Hotel, La-Z-Boy and Simmons Foods Inc.
Tickets for the banquet can be purchased on the chamber’s website, www. siloamchamber.com.
