Jay ‘J.B.’ Childers

Jay “J.B.” Childers, 77, of Gentry, Ark., died Jan. 20, 2017, at Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehab in Siloam Springs, Ark.

He was born Sept. 13, 1939, in Van Buren, Ark., to James Richard Childers and Rhoda I. Bryant Childers. He married Betty Shelley. He was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his wife; two daughters; two sisters; and two brothers.

He is survived by a daughter, Teresa Childers of Siloam Springs; and two brothers, Ricky Childers and wife Elizabeth of Warner, Okla., and Richard Childers of Fort Smith, Ark.

Sam Allen Griffin, 94, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Jan. 20, 2017, in his home.

He was born Oct. 10, 1922, in Benton County, Ark., to Mike Griffin and Eula Wright Griffin. He married Helen Lamons on Aug. 26, 1944. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a truck driver for Pet Milk and a dairy farmer.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

He is survived by a son, Sammy Griffin of Siloam Springs; three granddaugh­ters; and four greatgrand­children.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs.

Marion Snider

Marion Snider, 97, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, died January 21, 2017, at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital, Siloam Springs, Arkansas. He was born to Floyd Otis Snider and Clara Georgia Snider in Richmond, Kansas. Marion was the third son of four, his brothers Claron, Arden and Edwin.

Marion attended school in Erie, Kansas, and completed high school at John Brown University and earned a B.S. in Business and Accounting. He was employed at J.B.U. for 45 years and 6 months. Marion served as Accountant, Business Manager and Vice President for Business and Financial Affairs. He married Adanell Buffum on May 23, 1942. Adanell served at J.B.U. as a teacher.

Marion was an active member of the community and a civic leader. He served on the boards of Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital, City Library, City Council, Chamber of Commerce past president and Rotary Club past president. After retirement, Marion served 15 years as a volunteer assisting senior citizens with Income Tax filing. Marion was an active member of First United Methodist Church and spent many years as Head Usher, serving on the Finance Committee and the Administra­tive Board. He was the recipient of the 1994 Pioneer Citizen Award.

Marion was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Claron and Arden; his wife Adanell Buffum Snider, to whom he was married for over 70 years; daughter, Ann Snider Wisdom; and daughter-in-law, Pamela Eads Snider.

He is survived by daughter, Nancy Snider; son, Stewart Snider; daughter, Melanie Snider Mason and husband Wayne; sonin-law, Howard Wisdom; six grandchild­ren, Robyn Snider Lancaster and husband Howie, Joe Wisdom, Sarah Wisdom, Martha Mason Cox and husband David, Joanna Mason Hankins and husband Eric, and Matthew Mason; three great-grandchild­ren, Eli Lancaster, James Cox and Nathan Cox; long-time family friend and caregiver, Sondra Wattenbarg­er; and brother, Edwin Snider.

Heartfelt thanks to all who nurtured and cared for Marion in his last days: friends, neighbors, church and Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehab. Marion loved God and the Christ, our Lord who died for him and for us.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs, Arkansas, with Dr. Randy Rowlan officiatin­g. Dennis R. Osburne

Dennis R. Osburne, 60, of Gravette, Ark., died Jan. 23, 2017, at Ozark Community Hospital in Gravette.

He was born Oct. 7, 1956, in Grants Pass, Ore., to Joe William Osburne Jr and Ima Jean Collum Ball. He married Melinda Carson in 1979. He was a retired maintenanc­e worker for Tyson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife; a brother, Danny Osburne and wife Patty of Mt. Home, Ark.; and two half-brothers, Larry Jones of Texas and Bobby Jones of Ada, Okla.
