Ninth-graders fall to Fayettevil­le

FAYETTEVIL­LE — The Siloam Springs ninthgrade boys basketball team saw its four-game win streak come to an end Monday with a 51-27 loss to Fayettevil­le Purple.

The Panthers got behind 15-7 after the first quarter and never could catch the Bulldogs. Fayettevil­le pulled ahead 30-18 at halftime and took a 45-22 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Thad Wright led the Panthers (8-9, 3-1 Northwest Arkansas Conference) with eight points, while Ransom Van Asche had seven, Drew Vachon and Damien Martin three and Jordan Stewart, Mason Cooper and Evan Sauer each with two.

Ninth-grade girls

The ninth-grade girls dropped their third straight game with a 37-26 loss to Fayettevil­le Purple.

The Lady Panthers (9-9, 1-3) trailed 11-5 after the first quarter but rallied to take a 17-15 lead at halftime.

Purple retook the lead 28-25 going into the fourth quarter.

Shelby Johnson and Jael Harried each scored eight points to lead Siloam Springs, while Brooke Henderson had five, Turtle Shreve three and Maddie Vaughan two.

Up next

The ninth-grade teams are scheduled to host Springdale George on Thursday at the Panther Activity Center. The ninthgrade girls game will start at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys around 6:45.
