Ninth-graders sweep Springdale George

The Siloam Springs ninth-grade girls put an end to their three-game losing streak with a 48-24 win against Springdale George on Thursday inside the Panther Activity Center.

The Lady Panthers got out to a hot start, taking a 15-2 lead after the first quarter and leading 23-7 at halftime.

Siloam Springs (10-9, 2-3) took a 35-14 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Shelby Johnson led the Lady Panthers with 13 points, while Morgan Winesburg had 10, Jael Harried eight, Brooke Henderson and Maddie Vaughan each with four, Alyssa Maxwell, Madison Pharr, Lexy Fortner and Turtle Shreve each with two and Yose Zamora with one.

Ninth-grade boys

After watching their four-game winning streak snapped on Monday at Fayettevil­le Purple, the Panthers got back on the winning side Thursday with a 35-18 win against Springdale George.

Siloam Springs led 8-4 after the first quarter and 15-5 at halftime. The Panthers (9-9, 4-1) pulled ahead 26-10 going into the fourth quarter.

Gage Weaver led the Panthers with nine points, while Ransom Van Asche and Thad Wright had six, Drew Vachon five, Evan Sauer and Jordan Stewart both with four and Damien Martin one.

Both ninth-grade teams return to action on Monday at Springdale Central.
