Ninth-grade Lady Panthers win on road

SPRINGDALE — On the heels of a recent threegame losing streak, the Siloam Springs ninth-grade girls basketball team has now won two straight.

The Lady Panthers won at Springdale Central 54-27 to improve to 11-9 overall and 3-3 in Northwest Arkansas Conference play.

Siloam Springs led 18-13 after the first quarter and outscored the Lady Warriors 13-3 in the second quarter to take a 31-16 halftime lead.

Another 13-3 spurt in the third quarter gave Siloam Springs a 44-19 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Lexy Fortner led the Lady Panthers with 10 points, while Jael Harried and Turtle Shreve each scored nine, Shelby Johnson eight, Madison Pharr five, Brooke Henderson and Morgan Winesburg each with four, Candy Dubon three and Alyssa Maxwell two.

Ninth-grade boys

The Panthers fell behind in the first quarter and couldn’t catch up to the Warriors in a 56-40 loss.

Central led 16-6 after the first quarter, and the Warriors pulled ahead 27-17 at halftime. Central remained ahead by 10 points, 3828, going into the fourth quarter.

Drew Vachon led the Panthers (9-10, 4-2) with 10 points, while Evan Sauer had eight, Ransom Van Asche seven, Carson Wleklinski six, Jordan Stewart five and Jackson Norberg and Thad Wright each with two.

The ninth-grade teams host Springdale Southwest on Thursday. The ninthgrade girls play at 5:30 p.m., followed by the ninth-grade boys around 6:45.
