Boys bowlers win conference title
The Lady Panthers finished third in the 7A/6A-West Meet on Tuesday in Conway.
CONWAY — The Siloam Springs bowling teams made history on Tuesday at the 7A/6AWest Conference Meet at Conway Family Bowl.
The boys bowlers won a conference championship, while the girls finished third overall as both teams qualified for the Class 7A/6A State Tournament, which will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fast Lanes Entertainment in Lowell.
“I am so proud of both teams,” said Siloam Springs head coach Ken Bolinger. “I have coached bowling in Siloam for 10 years and this is the first time both boys and girls teams have qualified for state. We did quite well (at the conference tournament) and had set goals that we were close to but not quite.
“We are looking forward to bowling in the state tournament at Fast Lanes this next Tuesday. We are ready to give it our best.”
The Siloam Springs boys finished with a team score of 4,032 to best Fort Smith Southside 4,003; Van Buren 3,813; Bentonville 3,795 and Fayetteville 3,604.
Garrett Howell placed third overall with a total of 618, including a high game of 265, while Shane Hanan was fifth at 598, Ben Holland ninth at 575, Nathaniel Brown 16th at 533 and Karterr Barlow 24th at 508.
Other high games included Holland 222, Brown 207, Hanan 206 and 201 and Jordan Barker 201.
Howell, Holland and Hanan all earned All-Conference honors.
Rogers won the girls meet with a score of 3,306, followed by Bentonville at 3,278 and Siloam Springs at 3,191. Rogers Heritage finished fourth at 2,993 and Fayetteville round out the top five at 2,864.
Baylie Mullikin placed eighth overall for the Lady Panthers with a total of 487 and was the only All-Conference selection for Siloam Springs.
Tessa Brown placed 14th at 441, while Savannah Middleton was 16th at 435, Erica Springer 18th at 431, Holly Green 20th at 419 and Misti Krueger 36th at 376.
High games for the Lady Panthers were Middleton 178, Mullikin 177, Springer 172 and Green 170.
