Kansas junior powerlifte­rs turn in strong performanc­e

The Kansas (Okla.) Junior High powerlifti­ng team competed in a meet Wednesday in Wyandotte, Okla.

More than 44 Comets competed and 34 received medals.

The seventh-grade and ninth-grade teams won first place at the meet, while the eighth-grade team took second place.

The Kansas teams will compete in a meet at Afton on Feb. 16 with the high school meet, also at Afton, on Feb. 17.

Seventh-grade results

• 90-pound — Bryan King, second place; Deven Cooper, third place.

• 105-pound — Shelby Spence, first place; Tharrick Cowett, third place.

• 123-pound — Josiah Robinson, third place.

• 145-pound — Gabe Peak, first place.

• 157-pound — Jeremiah Harmon, first place; Nikolas Houstonn, third place.

• 181-pound — Kolby Vaughan, first place.

• 198-pound — Kenley Verbeck, first place.

• 220-pound — Austin Frye, first place.
