Sales tax receipts up in February
Siloam Springs sales tax receipts were up $43,744 in February compared to the same month last year.
Sales tax receipts were $689,561 in February 2017, compared to $639,817 in February 2016, according to the March issue of City & Town Magazine.
County sales tax receipts were up $32,660, from $261,090 in February 2016 to $293,750 in February 2017.
The city’s sales tax receipts come from its 2 percent sales tax. The total sales tax rate in Siloam Springs is 9.5 percent.
City sales tax receipts are used for utility infrastructure, repayment of wastewater treatment plant bonds, the city’s general fund, public safety and the street department.
A share of county sales tax receipts pays on two water utility infrastructure bonds.
Other cities that saw an increase in city sales tax receipts were:
• Fayetteville, up $71,996 to $3.54 million
• Gentry, up $290 to $50,066
• Rogers, up $522,922 to $3.86 million
• Springdale, up $85,130 to $2.35 million.
Cities that saw a decrease in city sales tax receipts were:
• Bentonville, down $275,810 to $2.19 million
• Eureka Springs, down $4,923 to $168,429
• Lincoln, down $551 to $38,882.
