FFA Auction

The annual FFA alumni consignmen­t auction will be held at the Butler’s Arena, located at 1415 Fairmont Rd., 2.4 miles north of U.S. Hwy 412 starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 29. The dessert auction will begin at 9 a.m. Items sold in the regular auction will include heavy machinery, farm equipment, tractors, trailers, four-wheelers, lawn mowers, tools, furniture and animals. All horses will need to have negative Coggins papers to when checked in. Poultry, fowl or clothing are not allowed in the sale. Items may be checked in for sale starting at 7:30 a.m. The seller will retain 90 percent of the profits and 10 percent of the profits will benefit the FFA. SSRH Blood Drive

Siloam Springs Regional Hospital will host a blood drive from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 16 in the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks Bloodmobil­e at the SSRH parking lot located at 603 N. Progress Ave. in Siloam Springs.

To be eligible to give blood, one must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health and present a valid photo ID. CBCO offers the following tips for those who plan to make a donation:

• Drink plenty of water or juice the night and morning before one donates.

• Eat a well-balanced meal around 2-3 hours before giving.

• Bring a photo ID which is required for all donors.

Siloam Springs Writers to meet

The Siloam Springs Writers Guild will meet at 6 p.m. May 8, at First Baptist Church. David Wilson, Herald-Leader columnist, will speak to the writers. Assignment­s are to be emailed to sswgsisp@gmail.com between May 1-10. Prose — “Graduation Day,” and Poetry — “Graduation.” Vistors are welcome.

American Legion at Dogwood

American Legion post 29 and the American Legion Auxiliary are hosting a pair of lunches during the Dogwood Festival. First is a corn bread and beans lunch on Friday, April 28, and second is a spaghetti lunch to be held on Saturday, April 29. Both lunches will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost for adults is $6, while children from 4 years old to 12 years old eat for $4. Children younger than 4 years old eat free. The lunches will be held in the American Legion Community Building at 110 North Mt. Olive.

Suicide Prevention Walk

Siloam Springs High School students are partnering with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to hold a fundraisin­g walk on May 6 at the middle school track. Registrati­on begins at 9 a.m.; the walk begins at 10:30 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m. The event will include a silent auction and donations are welcome.
