Dogwood book sale

Friends of the Library Bookstore — located in Siloam Springs Public Library — will hold the annual Dogwood Festival book sale on April 27-30. The sale hours are noon to 6 p.m. Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m Friday; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. On Saturday, all books in the sale area will be buy one, get one free. Sunday will be a “Bag-O-Books” day with all sale books offered at $1 for a bag of paperbacks, $2 for a bag of hardbacks. The sale will include a huge variety of books including a selection of vintage or rare books deeply discounted in relation to suggested online prices. Proceeds from the Dogwood Sale or at the Bookstore are always used to benefit the library, especially children’s summer reading programs.

Kindergart­en Registrati­on

Northside Elementary kindergart­en registrati­on for the 2017-2018 school year is now open. Children must be five years old on or before Aug. 1, 2017, to register. All registrati­ons will be completed online and can be accessed by going to the Northside homepage, http://northside.siloamscho­ols.com/. Families that wish to register on site at Northside Elementary may do so from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 2 p.m. April 28.

For registrati­on to be complete parents should complete the online registrati­on form at https:// goo.gl/forms/DQ6fqzeJDO­8aqhdg2 and bring the following documents to Northside Elementary: proof of birth — a list of qualifying documents can be found at siloam schools. com under the New Student Enrollment link; proof of residency; immunizati­on record; social security card — parent may request a number assigned by the district if preferred; and a current physical — a physical examinatio­n is required within 90 days of enrollment. The items can be brought to the Northside office between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Registrati­on should be complete by May 12, 2017.

Ordinary Saints Exhibit

The art exhibit “Ordinary Saints” will be on display in John Brown University’s Windgate Visual Arts West Gallery through May 2. The exhibit features the work of artist Bruce Herman. Regular gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The gallery will be closed April 14-16 for the Easter holiday.

50th reunion

The 50th reunion of the Siloam Springs High School class of 1967 will be held Sept. 15, 2017, at 28 Springs. For more informatio­n, contact Marsha Emanuelson at emanuelson@cox.net.

Roast-and-toast for Cheek

A retirement roast and-toast dinner celebratio­n for longtime Siloam Springs High School volleyball coach Rose Cheek will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 29, in the high school cafeteria, located at 700 W. Progress Ave. RSVP the $8 tickets by texting the number of tickets and name to 479-790-6693 or by emailing joellen. wright@siloamscho­ols.com. A volleyball alumni game will take place before the dinner at 5 p.m. in the Panther Activity Center at the high school. RSVP to the same number and email above to reserve a spot to play in the game.

Make your home safe and accessible

Kind at Heart Ministries is offering help to make homes “safe and accessible” with ramps, widening doors and building handrails. Financial assistance may be available. For more informatio­n, contact 479373-6281 between the hours of 1 and 5 p.m. or email servant@kindathear­t.org.

Fundraiser breakfast/ band

The Siloam Springs Senior Activity and Wellness Center will host a weekly fundraiser breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. every Friday at the center, located at 750 Heritage Court. The fundraiser is open to all ages. The center will also host the OK Country Band at 1 p.m. the first Thursday of every month. The performanc­e is free and open to anyone.

Manna Center Thrift Store

The Manna Center Thrift Store is now accepting credit and debit cards for purchases of $10 or more to make it easier for customers to shop. The store is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Customers can like the thrift store on Facebook or stop by and see what the dollar item is for the week. Anything over a month old is half price. The Manna Center is located at 670 Heritage Court, behind the Senior Activity and Wellness Center on Tulsa Street.

Tailwagger­s seeking volunteers, donations

Tailwagger­s is seeking volunteers to walk dogs and socialize cats at the city animal shelter. They are also in need of donations of chewies, rawhides, cat toys and dog harnesses for the animal shelter. Donations can be dropped off at the animal shelter located at 1300 East Ashley St. Call 238-3612 for more informatio­n.

Yoga classes

Bridges to Wellness and the Siloam Springs Parks and Recreation Department are sponsoring Yoga classes. Classes will be 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday nights at the Moss House located at 311 S. Mt. Olive St. The cost for classes is $4.

Coffee with the Commander

Siloam Post 29 hosts “Coffee with the Commander” from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. each Saturday morning in the basement of the historic American Legion Community Hall located at 110 North Mount Olive in Siloam Springs. This is a time when members of the community can meet veterans and hear some of their stories. It is an opportunit­y to become familiar with the many programs of The American Legion serving veterans, youth and much more in the community. The organizati­on welcomes input about its programs and ways to improve them. They are also open to suggestion­s about opportunit­ies within the community. This event is not just for veterans and Legionnair­es, everyone is welcome to join in the discussion­s and enjoy the free coffee and donuts. For more informatio­n visit SiloamPost­29.org.
