5K Memorial Run
The Gayland Van Dyke 5K Memorial Run and 1 Mile Fun Run and Walk will be held beginning at 7:30 a.m. May 13, 2017 in Veterans Park in Decatur. The race will honor past and present veterans, and will benefit the Oklahoma and Arkansas Honor Flight and the college fund of a Decatur High School Senior. The event will include an opening ceremony with the Siloam Springs American Legion Honor Guard.
USPS Food Drive
The Siloam Springs Post Office will collecting non-perishable food as part of the 25th annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive through May 13. Those who would like to participate may put non-perishable food in their mailboxes during the week or drop them by the Post Office. The food will be donated to Siloam Springs’ five food banks. Memorial Day Flags
The American Legion will be placing flags on the graves of U.S. Military Veterans at 8 a.m. May 20, in remembrance of their military service on Memorial Day. Those who have a family member or friend who is buried at Oak Hill Cemetery, and is not identified as a U.S. Veteran, may contact with the American Legion and let them know, so they can make sure a flag is placed on their headstone. The community is welcome to join the American Legion in placing the flags. Preschool enrollment
Northside Elementary is currently taking applications for preschool students for the 2017-2018 school year. All applications will be submitted online and can be accessed by going to the Northside homepage. http://northside.siloamschools.com/
Children must be 4 years old on or before Aug. 1, 2017 to apply for preschool. Space is limited and will be filled on a first come, first qualified basis. All qualified children who are four years old by this date will be notified by mail. For more information call 479-524-4126.
SSRH Blood Drive
Siloam Springs Regional Hospital will host a blood drive from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 16 in the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks Bloodmobile at the SSRH parking lot located at 603 N. Progress Ave. in Siloam Springs.
To be eligible to give blood, one must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health and present a valid photo ID. CBCO offers the following tips for those who plan to make a donation:
• Drink plenty of water or juice the night and morning before one donates.
• Eat a well-balanced meal around 2-3 hours before giving.
• Bring a photo ID which is required for all donors.

Kindergarten Registration
Northside Elementary kindergarten registration for the 2017-2018 school year is now open. Children must be five years old on or before Aug. 1, 2017, to register. All registrations will be completed online and can be accessed by going to the Northside homepage, http://northside.siloamschools.com/. Families that wish to register on site at Northside Elementary may do so from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 2 p.m. April 28.
For registration to be complete parents should complete the online registration form at https://goo.gl/forms/DQ6fqzeJDO8aqhdg2 and bring the following documents to Northside Elementary: proof of birth - a list of qualifying documents can be found at siloam-schools. com under the New Student Enrollment link; proof of residency; immunization record; social security card - parent may request a number assigned by the district if preferred; and a current physical - a physical examination is required within 90 days of enrollment. The items can be brought to the Northside office between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Registration should be complete by May 12, 2017.
50th reunion

Make your home safe and accessible
Kind at Heart Ministries is offering help to make homes “safe and accessible” with ramps, widening doors and building handrails. Financial assistance may be available. For more information, contact 479-373-6281 between the hours of 1 and 5 p.m. or email servant@ kindatheart.org.
Fundraiser breakfast/ band
The Siloam Springs Senior Activity and Wellness Center will host a weekly fundraiser breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. every Friday at the center, located at 750 Heritage Court. The fundraiser is open to all ages. The center will also host the OK Country Band at 1 p.m. the first Thursday of every month. The performance is free and open to anyone.
