Summer Lunch Program
Siloam Springs School District will be hosting a free summer lunch program for all children age 18 and younger, regardless of whether or not they attend school in Siloam Springs. Meals will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, beginning May 30 through Aug. 4 at Allen Elementary School and the Siloam Springs Middle School. Lunch will also be served at three mobile locations, including at 11:15 a.m. by the gazebo at Spring Valley Apartments; 11:45 a.m. at Eliana Chacon Memorial Park; and 12:15 p.m. by the picnic pavilion at Bob Henry Park. Adult meals are available at the Allen and Middle Schools only for $3.50. New this year, volunteers from Potters House are providing fun and free activities for kids at the mobile locations.
Retail Therapy Thursdays
Many downtown Siloam Springs stores will be open late until 7 p.m. every Thursday, now through July 6 for Retail Therapy Thursdays, hosted by Main Street Siloam Springs. The event will give customers a chance to shop, dine and unwind in historic downtown Siloam Springs.
SSHS 1964-1979 Reunion
Siloam Springs High School classes of 1964 through 1979 will be holding a reunion on Sept. 16 at Camp Siloam (Formerly the Baptist Assembly). Registration will be held from 3:30 to 4 p.m., followed by the reunion from 4 to 6 p.m. A meal will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and the evening will continue with entertainment old high school bands from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Tours will also be held throughout the day, including a tour if the Siloam Springs Museum from 10 a.m. to noon; a downtown walking tour at 11 a.m.; a tour of the new high school at 1 p.m.; and a tour of the old high school on Jefferson Street at 2 p.m. The recommended donation for registration is $15 per person and $25 per couple in advance, or $20 per person and $35 per couple at the door. Fishing Derby
The Siloam Springs Parks and Recreation department will host the kids’ fishing derby on Saturday, June 3. The derby will take place along Sager Creek behind the Parks and Recreation building at 120 South Mt. Olive Street from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. The derby is free and limited to ages 3-12 for participants. Prizes will be awarded in several categories.
Movies in the park
A movie night will be hosted in Bob Henry Park near the playground on Friday, June 9. The event, held by the Siloam Springs Parks and Recreation Department, will feature the movie “Moana.” The movie will be shown at 9 p.m., when it gets dark. Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
Second Saturday Music
Eden Forman and Lukas Pool of Mountain View will provide music for June’s Second Saturday Music. The event will be free to the public in Twin Springs park on June 10 at 7:30 p.m. In case of rain, the concert will be moved to the Community Building at 110 Mt. Olive Street.
Fairmount Cemetery Association meeting
The Fairmount Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting on Sunday, May, 28, at the Fairmount Community Building. Dinner will be at 12:30 p.m. and the business session will follow. All families with loved ones buried in the cemetery are invited to attend. Dinner will be covered dish. Attendees are encouraged to bring enough food for guests from out of town; also please bring drinks to suit your family’s tastes. The Association will furnish ice water.

Siloam Springs Writers Guild to meet June 12
The Siloam Springs Writers Guild will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, June 12, at First Baptist Church, 2000 Dawn Hill Rd. Please use the west entrance and follow the signs. Jeremy Weathers will give for writers’ tips from Toastmasters. Assignments for Writers are Prose — “About My Father,” and Poetry — “Father’s Day” (any style) to be emailed to sswgsisp@gmail.com between June 1-10. Visitors are welcome. Preschool enrollment
Northside Elementary is currently taking applications for preschool students for the 2017-2018 school year. All applications will be submitted online and can be accessed by going to the Northside homepage. http://northside.siloamschools.com/
Children must be 4 years old on or before Aug. 1, 2017 to apply for preschool. Space is limited and will be filled on a first come, first qualified basis. All qualified children who are four years old by this date will be notified by mail. For more information call 479-5244126.
Street closure
The city of Siloam Springs will have a street closure to repair a street cut on West Twin Springs between College and Garrett streets beginning Tuesday, May 30, and will be reopened Thursday, June 1.
Blood Drive
An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., May 31 at the Siloam Springs Walmart, located at 2901 U.S. Highway 412 E. Those who donated between May 26 and 30 will receive a Red Cross-branded visor while supplies last. Individuals who are 17 years of age, or 16 with parental consent, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. Make an appointment to donate blood by downloading the free Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting redcrossblood. org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS.
Kindergarten registration
Northside Elementary kindergarten registration for the 2017-2018 school year is now open. Children must be five years old on or before Aug. 1, 2017, to register. All registrations will be completed online and can be accessed by going to the Northside homepage, http://northside.siloamschools.com/. Families that wish to register on site at Northside Elementary may do so from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 2 p.m. April 28.
For registration to be complete parents should complete the online registration form at https:// goo.gl/forms/DQ6fqzeJDO8aqhdg2 and bring the following documents to Northside Elementary: proof of birth — a list of qualifying documents can be found at siloamschools. com under the New Student Enrollment link; proof of residency; immunization record; social security card - parent may request a number assigned by the district if preferred; and a current physical - a physical examination is required within 90 days of enrollment. The items can be brought to the Northside office between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Registration should be complete by May 12, 2017.
