Eight SSHS soccer players land on all-state tournament team

Eight Siloam Springs soccer players were named to the allstate tournament team for their play in Class 6A state tournament in Siloam Springs on May 11-13 and the Class 6A state finals on May 19 at Razorback Field in Fayettevil­le.

Boys

Sophomore Eli Jackson was named state finals MVP after scoring a hat trick in the Panthers’ 4-0 win against Mountain Home in the Class 6A state title game.

Jackson finished with five goals in three state tournament games.

Also for Siloam Springs making the All-State Tournament team were junior defender Jack Bos, sophomore forward Christian Marroquin, who scored three goals in the state tournament, and senior midfielder Austin Shull.

The Panthers (21-5-1) won their second straight Class 6A championsh­ip and the program’s fourth overall.

Girls

Junior Audrey Maxwell was named state finals MVP after scoring three goals in the Lady Panthers’ 6-1 victory over

Russellvil­le in the state finals.

Maxwell finished with four goals and two assists in the state tournament as the Lady Panthers won their fourth straight Class 6A state title.

Junior Megan Hutto scored three goals and had four assists in the state tournament and was named to the team, along with junior defender Meghan Kennedy and junior midfielder Brooklyn Buckminste­r.
