SSHS 1964-1979 Reunion

Siloam Springs High School classes of 1964 through 1979 will be holding a multi-class reunion on Sept. 16 at Camp Siloam (formerly the Baptist Assembly). Registrati­on will be held from 3:30 to 4 p.m., followed by the reunion from 4 to 6 p.m. A meal will be provided (cost TBD) from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and former high school band members will be providing lots of fun, sentimenta­l 60’s-70’s musical entertainm­ent from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Tours will also be held throughout the day, including a tour of the Siloam Springs Museum from 10 a.m. to noon; a downtown walking tour at 11 a.m.; a tour of the new high school at 1 p.m.; and a tour of the old high school on Jefferson Street at 2 p.m. The recommende­d donation for registrati­on is $15 per person and $25 per couple in advance, or $20 per person and $35 per couple at the door. Make your home safe and accessible

Fundraiser breakfast/ band

The Siloam Springs Senior Activity and Wellness Center will host a weekly fundraiser breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. every Friday at the center, located at 750 Heritage Court. The fundraiser is open to all ages. The center will also host the OK Country Band at 1 p.m. the first Thursday of every month. The performanc­e is free and open to anyone.

Manna Center Thrift Store

The Manna Center Thrift Store is now accepting credit and debit cards for purchases of $10 or more to make it easier for customers to shop. The store is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Customers can like the thrift store on Facebook or stop by and see what the dollar item is for the week. Anything over a month old is half price. The Manna Center is located at 670 Heritage Court, behind the Senior Activity and Wellness Center on Tulsa Street.

Tailwagger­s seeking volunteers, donations

Tailwagger­s is seeking volunteers to walk dogs and socialize cats at the city animal shelter. They are also in need of donations of chewies, rawhides, cat toys and dog harnesses for the animal shelter. Donations can be dropped off at the animal shelter located at 1300 East Ashley Street. Yoga classes

Bridges to Wellness and the Siloam Springs Parks and Recreation Department are sponsoring Yoga classes. Classes will be 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday nights at the Moss House located at 311 S. Mt. Olive Street. The cost for classes is $4.

Coffee with the Commander

Siloam Post 29 hosts “Coffee with the Commander” from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. each Saturday morning in the basement of the historic American Legion Community Hall located at 110 N. Mount Olive in Siloam Springs. This is a time when members of the community can meet veterans and hear some of their stories. It is an opportunit­y to become familiar with the many programs of The American Legion serving veterans, youth and much more in the community. The organizati­on welcomes input about its programs and ways to improve them. They are also open to suggestion­s about opportunit­ies within the community. Kansas Public Library

The Kansas Public Library has lots of activities to enjoy. The library has a new “Freegal Music Service” that offers over 10,000 music labels from 65 countries. A library patron in good standing may download three songs a week for free from https:// eodls.freegalmus­ic.com. Refreshmen­ts will be provided. Friends of the Library Bookstore

The Friends of the Library Bookstore — located in Siloam Springs Public Library — has a great assortment of gently used books, CDs, DVDs, audio books, most priced under $2. Featured are children’s books, a collection of vintage books, and a large section of religioust­hemed and Christian fiction. Signs in the library will guide patrons to the bookstore area which is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friends of the Library uses all proceeds from the store to benefit the library, especially the children’s summer reading programs. Donations of used books and electronic media in good condition are always welcomed.

Radio Control Modelers

The Siloam Springs Radio Control Modelers is a group of local radio control aircraft flyers who fly all types of aircraft models, including fixed wing, helicopter­s, gliders, multicopte­rs and drones at Allen Field on Waukesha Road in Siloam Springs. The club flies each weekend and Wednesday afternoons, weather permitting. Club meetings are held at the Siloam Springs City Airport in the pilot’s lounge on the first Tuesday of even numbered months. Senior Activity & Wellness Center

The Siloam Springs Senior Activity and Wellness Center, located at 750 Heritage Court, serves lunch daily to seniors 60 and older for a $3 donation. The center has an old-time gospel sing every Tuesday starting at 10:30 a.m. There is a watercolor class every Wednesday. Socializat­ion, Wii bowling & dominoes go on daily. Manna Center Thrift Store

The Manna Center Thrift Store, located behind the Senior Activity Center in Siloam Springs, is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Because new merchandis­e is put out daily, after an item has been in the store for a month it is half price. Also each week the store will have an item that is $1.
