Kenwood closure
The city of Siloam Springs will be closing East Kenwood Street between Lincoln Street and U.S. Hwy 412 beginning Monday, Aug. 21, and tentatively re-opening by 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 25. The closure is needed to rebuild a storm drain crossing. Plan routes accordingly because there will be no through traffic. The city of Siloam Springs will have a street closure on North Hico Street, between Sager Creek Drive and North Washington Street, beginning Monday, Aug. 21, and will tentatively re-open by 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 25, for repairs being done on the Hico Street bridge. Plan routes accordingly.
SSHS 1964-1979 Reunion
Siloam Springs High School classes of 1964 through 1979 will be holding a mega-class reunion on Sept. 16 at Camp Siloam (formerly the Baptist Assembly). The class of 1964 was the first to graduate from the old high school on Jefferson Street. Registration will be held from 3:30 to 4 p.m. followed by the reunion from 4 to 6 p.m. An optional barbecue meal will be served in the large cafeteria for $9.50/person from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Anyone may bring hors d’oeuvres and treats to share throughout the evening. From 7:30 to 10 p.m. former high school band members will be providing lots of fun sentimental 60’s-70’s musical entertainment. Tours will also be held throughout the day, including a tour of the Siloam Springs Museum at 10 a.m.; a downtown walking tour at 11 a.m.; and a tour of the old high school on Jefferson Street at 1 p.m. There is no registration charge for the Reunion, but the “recommended donation” is $15 per person and $25 per couple in advance, or $20 per person and $35 per couple at the door to cover for expenses. Lunch and Learn with Katelyn Beaty
DaySpring will host author Katelyn Beaty at a lunch and learn event from noon to 1 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Siloam Springs Community Center. Tickets are available on Eventbrite at https://awomansplacesiloam.eventbrite.com for $12 each and the lunch will be catered by Edibles by Zoe. Katelyn Beaty is the author of A Woman’s Place and an editor at large for Christianity Today.
While We’re Waiting
While We’re Waiting is a grief support group designed specifically for parents who have lost children. The group, led by Don and Deondra Chamberlain, meets the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at Sager Creek Community Church, located at 1600 Cheri Whitlock Drive in Siloam Springs.
