SSWG to hear about blogging

The Siloam Springs Writers Guild will meet at 6 p.m. Sept. 11 at First Baptist Church of Siloam Springs, 2000 W. Dawn Hill Rd. Enter at the West entrance. Tim Gilmore will speak to the writers on blogging. Assignment­s to be emailed to SSWGsisp@gmail.com between Sept. 1-10 are as follows: Prose — “An Adventure in School,” and Poetry — “School Days” (any style). Anyone interested in the art of writing is welcome to attend.

Class of 1957 Reunion

The Siloam Springs High School class of 1957 will be celebratin­g their 60th high school reunion on Sept. 8 and 9. The reunion will be held at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall on Sept. 8. SSHS 1964-1979 Reunion

Siloam Springs High School classes of 1964 through 1979 will be holding a mega-class reunion on Sept. 16 at Camp Siloam (formerly the Baptist Assembly). The class of 1964 was the first to graduate from the old high school on Jefferson Street. Registrati­on will be held from 3:30 to 4 p.m. followed by the reunion from 4 to 6 p.m. An optional barbecue meal will be served in the large cafeteria for $9.50/person from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Anyone may bring hors d’oeuvres and treats to share throughout the evening. From 7:30 to 10 p.m. former high school band members will be providing lots of fun sentimenta­l 60’s-70’s musical entertainm­ent. Tours will also be held throughout the day, including a tour of the Siloam Springs Museum at 10 a.m.; a downtown walking tour at 11 a.m.; and a tour of the old high school on Jefferson Street at 1 p.m. There is no registrati­on charge for the Reunion, but the “recommende­d donation” is $15 per person and $25 per couple in advance, or $20 per person and $35 per couple at the door to cover expenses. Lunch and Learn with Katelyn Beaty

DaySpring will host author Katelyn Beaty at a lunch and learn event from noon to 1 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Siloam Springs Community Center. Tickets are available on Eventbrite at https://awomanspla­cesiloam.eventbrite. com for $12 each and the lunch will be catered by Edibles by Zoe. Katelyn Beaty is the author of A Woman’s Place and an editor at large for Christiani­ty Today.
