SSHS volleyball stumbles early

■ The Lady Panthers lost a pair of 3-1 road decisions to Rogers and Paris.

ROGERS — The Siloam Springs volleyball team dropped its second straight match to open the 2017 season Thursday, losing 3-1 to Rogers High at W.E. King Arena.

Siloam Springs won the opening game of the match 26-24, but the Lady Mounties came back to win the final three games 25-23, 25-19, 30-28.

Hannah Martin hammered a team-high 16 kills to lead the Lady Mounties, while also chipping in two blocks and two aces. Kassidy Wall added seven kills, while Alex Parish chipped in six. Anna Randels had a team-high 23 digs, while Madelyn Tauai contribute­d 26 assists, four aces, four kills and six digs.

Ellie Lampton led Siloam Springs (0-2) with 12 kills, two blocks, five block assists, two aces and 15 digs. Allie Bowman had six kills, three blocks, two block assists and two aces. Chloe Price had six kills, three solo blocks, one block assist, two aces and 21 digs. Kenlie Noel contribute­d five kills, one solo block and one block assist.

Katie Kendrick and Reigan Brown each had two kills, one solo block and one block assist, while Madison Hall had one ace and 12 digs. Kirsten Loftis led with 25 digs.

Siloam Springs lost the junior varsity game 2-0 (25-12, 25-19), while the sophomores split 1-1 (2624, 18-25).

Paris 3, Siloam Springs 1

PARIS — The Lady Panthers volleyball team dropped their season opener Tuesday night as Paris rallied for a 3-1 (1825, 25-17, 25-15, 25-22) victory.

Ellie Lampton led Siloam Springs with 12 kills, while Allie Bowman had nine kills, Reigan Brown five kills, Katie Kendrick four kills and Chloe Price and Kenlie Noel each with three kills.

The junior varsity picked up a 2-0 victory (25-21, 2516), while the sophomores split 1-1 (24-26, 30-28).

Siloam Springs participat­ed in the Early Bird Tournament in Bentonvill­e on Saturday. Results were not available at presstime.

The Lady Panthers return to action on Monday with their home opener against Bentonvill­e at the Panther Activity Center. The sophomore game is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m., followed by the junior varsity match at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity match around 6:30 p.m.
