Junior high volleyball teams lose in Rogers

ROGERS — The Siloam Springs ninth-grade volleyball team won its first game Tuesday against Rogers, but the Lady Panthers dropped the next two as the Lady Mounties rallied for a 2-1 victory (23-25, 25-15, 15-8).

It was the second straight match to open the season where the Lady Panthers (0-2) won their first game but couldn’t finish off their opponent. Micah Curry led the Lady Panthers with four kills and five aces, while Makenna Thomas had two kills and two aces. Myah Moren had three aces, while Faith Howie had two aces, Jaedyn Soucie one kill and Camryn Kendrick one ace.

On Monday, Aug. 21, Siloam Springs topped Bentonville 25-16 in game one, but lost games two and three 25-20 and 15-12, respectively.

Eighth grade

The eighth-grade volleyball team suffered its first loss of the season Tuesday with a 2-0 (25-23, 25-23) loss to Rogers Kirksey.

MaKaylee Reichenecker had five aces for the Lady Panthers (1-1), while Brianna Wood had three aces and two kills and Dorothy Swearingen had three aces, two blocks and one kill. Jensen Kelly had two aces and one kill, while Sophia Lange had one block. Siloam Springs won the B game 2-0 (25-23, 25-18). Kelly led with five aces, while Haliee Free had two aces, Lange one ace and one kill and Carley Carswell one ace.

The ninth-graders return to action Monday at Shiloh Christian before heading to Bentonville on Tuesday. The eighth-graders host Rogers Elmwood at 4:30 p.m. on Monday and travel to Bentonville Washington at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
