Westville (Okla.) police officer found dead in home
The death of a young Westville, Okla., police officer is under investigation by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, according to a press release from the organization.
Brandon Lee Pelfrey, 24, did not show up for his shift on Tuesday evening and concerned officers went to his home nearby to check on him, the release states.
Officers found Pelfrey dead in his bedroom.
OSBI agents documented the scene and conducted interviews of those who lived inside the home, the release states. Agents found no trauma to the body, however, because of Pelfrey’s age and his occupation, OSBI is investigating the death as suspicious, it states.
Funeral services for Pelfrey were planned for Friday afternoon at the Westville school auditorium, according to a post on the Westville Police Department’s Facebook page.
“We lost a great officer, friend, family member, and the Lord gained a great warrior,” the post states. “Please continue with the prayers. We love and miss you Brandon.”
A fund to help cover Pelfrey’s final expenses was set up at the Arvest Bank in Westville, under the title “Brandon Pelfrey Memorial Fund,” according to the department’s Facebook page. Donations can be made at any Arvest Bank. A Gofundme account set up to raise money for Pelfrey’s final expenses raised $1,600 toward a goal of $10,000 as of Friday morning.
