For the third consecutive week, John Brown University senior Alyssa Arnold has been named Sooner Athletic Conference Setter of the Week, while sophomore Jessica Meyer was named Attacker of the Week for the first time in her career, the conference offices announced Monday afternoon.

Arnold, the reigning NAIA National Setter of the Week, followed up her national recognition with another stellar week, pacing the Golden Eagles (163) to a 5-1 record, including a pair of conference wins and a 3-1 mark at the College of the Ozarks (Mo.) Invitational.

This past week, the Waynesville, Mo., native averaged an ever higher assist per set week than last week, posting 12.35 assists per set, eclipsing the 30-assist mark in all six matches, including tying her careerbest 51-assist mark against tournament host Ozarks.

Arnold dished out 41 assists in JBU’s win over Lawrence Tech (Mich.) as she surpassed the 3,000-assist mark for her career. On the week, she powered the JBU offense to attack at a .248 percentage as the Golden Eagles have pieced together their best start since 2009.

Meyer earns her first-career selection as Attacker of the Week after a six-match week hitting above .300 or better. On the week, the Windsor, Colo., native hit .479 (71-14-119) and contributed a pair of matches hitting over .600, wins over St. Gregory’s (Okla.) and Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.). In five of the six matches, the middle hitter terminated in the double-digits, including setting a new career-best with 14 kills in JBU’s lone loss on the week to Ozarks.
