SSRH announces October events

Siloam Springs Regional Hospital is offering six community classes in the month of October, covering topics that range from personal finances to prepared childbirth.

Dr. Ashu Dhanjal, cardiologi­st, will speak to Senior Circle members about the cardiology services she offers at Northwest Health Cardiology — Siloam Springs. The seminar will be at noon on Oct. 10 inside Siloam Springs Regional Hospital’s Classroom 1. The event is free to the public and lunch is provided. To reserve a space, call 479215-3125 by Oct. 8.

For those who want to learn more about budget developmen­t, money management, wise use of credit, consumer protection and savvy savings the “Keeping Your Finances in Order” seminar is a perfect fit. The seminar will be 1 p.m. Oct. 11 in Siloam Springs Regional Hospital’s Classroom 2 with County Extension Agent Susan Pickle. Call 479-215-3125 to register today. Space is still available for the AARP Driver’s Safety Class on Friday, Oct. 13 from 8:10 a.m.1 p.m. inside Siloam Springs Regional Hospital’s Classroom 1 at 603 N. Progress Ave. in Siloam Springs.

Cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-AARP members. Payments by cash or check are due the day of the class. Snacks and beverages will be provided.

Siloam Springs Regional Hospital will offer a prepared childbirth class from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Oct. 21 inside Siloam Springs Regional Hospital Classroom 1. The class prepares mothers-to-be, their coach and families for childbirth. The 8-hour course is taught by Kay Smith, B.S., Certified Childbirth Educator and Certified Labor Doula. The one-day class includes the following topics:

• Comfort measures

• Breathing and relaxation techniques

• Labor partner training

• Hospital policies and procedures

• Overview of the childbirth process and breastfeed­ing

• Tour of the Women’s and Children’s Unit

Those participat­ing should bring one birthing coach, two pillows and a blanket to the class. Cost is $30 payable by cash or check; lunch and snacks are provided. To register or to learn more, call Kay Smith at 479-644-1153.

Siloam Springs Regional Hospital will present a Diabetic Nutrition Class and free luncheon at noon on Oct. 25.

Bring your girlfriend­s and drop in from 3-7 p.m. at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital for a Pink Party.

This free event is for women of all ages and includes hors d’oeuvres, pampering, prizes, a survivors celebratio­n, imaging tours and optional on-the-spot mammograms for those who would like to be screened that day. For more informatio­n, call 479-2153420.
