Ninth-grade Panthers pick up second victory

SPRINGDALE — The Siloam Springs ninth-grade football team picked up their second win of the season Thursday 24-21 against Springdale George at Jarrell Williams Bulldog Stadium. Siloam Springs (2-4) scored first on a Camden Collins touchdown run after Keegan Soucie went 30 yards on a reverse. George tied the game 6-6, but the Panthers retook the lead 12-6 on a Colin Evers TD run after a 26-yard pass to Coffey and 17-yard run by Collins. George took a 13-12 lead at halftime and into the third quarter, but Siloam Springs retook the lead 18-13 in the fourth quarter on a touchdown run by Evers. The Panthers later went up 24-13 on another touchdown run by Evers in the fourth. George scored a final time to pull within 24-21 and the Wranglers recovered an onside kick, but time ran out and the Pantehrs held on for the win.

Eighth-grade

The eighth-grade Panthers lost to George on Thursday 20-14. The Panthers (3-2-1) had a chance to win the game on the last play of the night, facing a fourth-and-goal from the 4-yard line. Josh Stewart’s pass was knocked down as George held on to win the game. George led 14-6 at halftime and 20-6 going into the fourth quarter. Stewart scored both of the Panthers’ touchdowns, on a 1-yard keeper in the first quarter and a 35-yard run in the fourth, with the two-point conversion by David Gowin.

Up next

Both teams are back in action this Thursday at home against Springdale Central. The eighth-grade game begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the ninth-grade game around 7:30 p.m.
