Ninth-grade Pan­thers pick up sec­ond victory

SPRING­DALE — The Siloam Springs ninth-grade foot­ball team picked up their sec­ond win of the sea­son Thurs­day 24-21 against Spring­dale Ge­orge at Jar­rell Wil­liams Bull­dog Sta­dium. Siloam Springs (2-4) scored first on a Cam­den Collins touch­down run af­ter Kee­gan Soucie went 30 yards on a re­verse. Ge­orge tied the game 6-6, but the Pan­thers re­took the lead 12-6 on a Colin Evers TD run af­ter a 26-yard pass to Cof­fey and 17-yard run by Collins. Ge­orge took a 13-12 lead at half­time and into the third quar­ter, but Siloam Springs re­took the lead 18-13 in the fourth quar­ter on a touch­down run by Evers. The Pan­thers later went up 24-13 on an­other touch­down run by Evers in the fourth. Ge­orge scored a fi­nal time to pull within 24-21 and the Wran­glers re­cov­ered an on­side kick, but time ran out and the Pan­tehrs held on for the win.


The eighth-grade Pan­thers lost to Ge­orge on Thurs­day 20-14. The Pan­thers (3-2-1) had a chance to win the game on the last play of the night, fac­ing a fourth-and-goal from the 4-yard line. Josh Ste­wart’s pass was knocked down as Ge­orge held on to win the game. Ge­orge led 14-6 at half­time and 20-6 go­ing into the fourth quar­ter. Ste­wart scored both of the Pan­thers’ touch­downs, on a 1-yard keeper in the first quar­ter and a 35-yard run in the fourth, with the two-point con­ver­sion by David Gowin.

Both teams are back in ac­tion this Thurs­day at home against Spring­dale Cen­tral. The eighth-grade game be­gins at 5:30 p.m., fol­lowed by the ninth-grade game around 7:30 p.m.
