Larson paces Golden Eagles to second-place finish at UALR
LITTLE ROCK — Freshman Sarah Larson finished third in a field of 60 runners, her best finish of the season, as the John Brown University women’s cross country team captured second place of eight teams at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Invitational on Saturday morning (Oct. 14) at the Rebsamen Golf Course.
In the non-Division I grouping, Larson posted a time of 20 minutes, 33.7 seconds, leading the Golden Eagles to the runner-up position behind Arkansas Tech, which won the race with 20 points. JBU finished with 53 and a team time of 1:47:03.
Freshman Hannah Fiser turned in her best collegiate time so far with a 21:26.1 time and a 10thplace finish. Finishing almost simultaneously was freshman Kylie Tucker, just .6 seconds behind Fiser, for an 11th place finish.
“Sarah (Larson) continues to race aggressively, and put together solid races,” said head coach Scott Schochler. “Hannah (Fiser) bounced back from a rough race at the Chile Pepper to run well today and Kylie (Tucker) is starting to relax during races and run much better.”
Juniors Carly Coney and Reagan Roth pulled in at 14th and 15th, respectively, notching times of 21:42.2 and 21:56.2 to complete the scoring for the Golden Eagles.
The Golden Eagles now have one regular-season meet left, the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Classic, on Saturday, Oct. 21, before the conference meet, which is slated for Nov. 4 at the Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee, Okla.
