In recognitio­n of the upcoming 50th anniversar­y of the Tet Offensive of the Vietnam War, John Brown University history professor Preston Jones is collecting memories and stories from local veterans. American Legion Fish Fry

American Legion Post 29 will hold a fundraisin­g fish fry at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at the American Legion Community Building. The dinner will cost $6 a plate and will include catfish and all the trimmings.

Dogwood Festival T-shirt Design Contest

The 2018 Dogwood Festival T-shirt Design Contest is now accepting entries. Designs must be singleside­d and single-color ink. Designers may designate a desired t-shirt color if they wish. The deadline for entries is Nov. 30, and the winner will receive a T-shirt and $50 cash. Submission­s may be sent to katelyn@siloamcham­ber.com.

Diabetic Nutrition Class

Siloam Springs Regional Hospital will present a Diabetic Nutrition Class and free luncheon at noon on Nov. 8. The “Get Your Plate Into Shape” class is located in Classroom 2 at the hospital, located at 603 N. Progress Ave. To register, call 479-215-3125 or email aimee_morrell@ssrh.net.

Health Insurance Open Enrollment

Open enrollment in the health insurance marketplac­e started on Nov. 1. To enroll, log into HealthCare.gov, fill out an applicatio­n and enroll in a 2018 Marketplac­e health plan. The deadline is Dec. 15 and coverage begins on Jan. 1, 2018. Siloam Springs Regional Hospital offers free assistance for anyone interested. Civitan Soup Sampler

The annual Civitan Soup Sampler will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at Community Christian Fellowship. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children age 3 to 10, and free for children under age 3. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to support local organizati­ons that serve people with developmen­tal disabiliti­es. The theme of this year’s soup sampler will be honoring veterans. Tickets can be purchased from any Civitan member.

Veterans Day Parade

A Veterans Day Parade will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. The parade will begin at the Masonic Lodge at the intersecti­on of College Street and University Street, and make its way along University Street to Broadway Street, then to East Main Street, ending at the National Guard Armory. Warm through the Winter

Crye-Leike Real Estate Services Siloam Springs and Gentry branch locations are teaming up to help local families in need prepare for the winter months through their “Warm through the Winter” campaign. Donations of gently used coats, scarves, gloves, and hats as well as canned and dry foods will be collected until Nov. 10.

All winter wear that is donated will be given to schools within the district of Siloam Springs and their surroundin­g areas.
