Bentonvill­e Washington defeats eighth-graders

The Siloam Springs eighth-grade girls basketball team was defeated by Bentonvill­e Washington 3529 on Thursday inside the Panther Activity Center.

Siloam Springs led 11-9 after the first quarter, but Washington responded in the second quarter by outscoring the Lady Panthers 15-4 to take a 24-15 lead at halftime.

The Lady Wildcats pulled ahead 32-19 going into the fourth quarter. The Lady Panthers (2-3) outscored Washington 10-3 in the fourth quarter.

Bella Cates led Washington with 11 points, while Hailey Tunnell had 10 points.

Halle Hernandez led Siloam Springs with eight points, while Reina Tiefel had seven, Alexa Maxwell and Bethany Markovich each with four and Sidney Pfeiffer, Hannah Riley and Grace Arrington each had two.

Boys

The eighth-grade boys also lost to Washington, 5029, on Thursday.

Chas Nimrod pumped in a game-high 25 points for the Wildcats, who led 18-6 after the first quarter and 32-17 at halftime. Washington carried a 44-23 advantage going into the fourth.

Jace Sutulovich led the Panthers (2-3) with 11 points, while Carter Winesburg and Brendan Lashley each had five, Caden Pharr four, Patrick Church two and Jaxon Koistra and Ezra Zaidner each with one.

The eighth-grade teams return to action at home against Alma on Jan. 4.
