Sales tax receipts up for November

Siloam Springs sales tax receipts were up in November compared to the same month the previous year.

Sales tax receipts were up $18,699 to $635,532 in November, compared to $616,833 in November 2016, according to the December issue of City & Town magazine.

County sales tax receipts were down for the second month in a row. In November they were down $12,034 from $272,226 in November 2016 to $260,192 in November 2017. In October, they were down $4,432 to $257,267.

The city’s sales tax receipts come from its 2 percent sales tax. The total sales tax rate in Siloam Springs is 9.5 percent.

City sales tax receipts are used for utility infrastruc­ture, repayment of wastewater treatment plant bonds, the city’s general fund, public safety and the street department.

A share of county sales tax receipts pays on two water utility infrastruc­ture bonds.

Other cities that saw an increase in city sales tax receipts were:

• Eureka Springs, up $15,156 to $252,823

• Fayettevil­le, up $61,168 to $3.59 million

• Gentry, up $3,315 to $50,785

• Lincoln, up $3,646 to

$44,272

• Rogers, up $360,640 to

$3.27 million

• Springdale, up $320,561 to $2.46 million.

Cities that saw a decrease in city sales tax receipts were:

• Bentonvill­e, down $623,138 to $1.81 million
