Ninth-grade girls pick up win over Springdale Central

The Siloam Springs ninth-grade girls picked up another win Thursday night, beating Springdale Central 40-26 inside Panther Activity Center.

The Lady Panthers (12-6) surged out to an 8-2 lead after the first quarter and led 14-8 at halftime. Siloam Springs pulled ahead 2615 entering the fourth quarter. Jadyn Still and Sydney Moorman each scored 11 points to lead the Lady Panthers, while Quincy Efurd had eight, Julia Jackson six and Mia Hevener and Makenna Thomas each with two.

The ninth-grade boys lost to Central 41-18.

The Panthers (9-9) fell behind 7-3 after the first quarter and trailed 16-12 at halftime. Central extended its lead to 26-15 entering the fourth quarter, where it outscored the Panthers 15-3. The ninth-graders return to action on Monday at home against Fayettevil­le Purple.

Eighth-grade

The Siloam Springs eighth-grade boys picked up a 35-31 victory at Springdale Central on Thursday night.

The Panthers improved to 6-8 overall. Complete statistics were not available at presstime. The eighth-grade boys lost 2611 at Bentonvill­e Fulbright on Wednesday night in a makeup game from Jan. 15 that was postponed due to winter weather. The Panthers trailed 8-3 after the first quarter and 17-7 at halftime. The Timberwolv­es carried a 19-9 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Hunter Talley led the Panthers with four points, while Carter Winesburg had three and Brendan Lashley and Josh Stewart each with two.

The eighth-grade girls lost 30-22 at Central on Thursday night. The Lady Panthers (5-9) led 4-1 after the first period but trailed 16-5 at halfime after being outscored 15-1 in the second quarter. Central extended its lead to 28-11 going into the third quarter.

Halle Hernandez led the Lady Panthers with 11 points while Reina Tiefel had six, Bethany Markovich three and Baylie Tate two. The eighth-grade girls lost 4013 at Bentonvill­e Fulbright on Wednesday in a makeup game. The Lady Timberwolv­es led 11-3 after the first quarter and 19-3 at halftime. Fulbright extended the lead to 29-6 going into the fourth quarter.

Halle Hernandez and Hannah Riley each had five points, while Alexa Maxwell scored two and Reina Tiefel one.

The eighth-grade teams return to action Monday against Rogers Lingle.

Seventh-grade

The seventh-grade girls picked up a pair of wins this past week. On Thursday, the Lady Panthers picked up a 34-23 win at Springdale Central.

Siloam Springs led 17-2 after the first quarter and 20-10 at halftime. The Lady Panthers carried a 28-18 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Brooke Smith led the way with 17 points, while Grace Price and Sophie Stephenson each had four, Audrey Sears three, and Kalianhni Jacklick , Anna Wleklinski and Faith Ellis with two each. On Wednesday, the Lady Panthers avenged an earlier loss this season to Stilwell Maryetta by defeating Maryetta 27-15. The Lady Panthers trailed 6-4 after the first quarter and 10-6 at halftime but rallied to take a 16-12 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Brooke Ross led Siloam Springs with 16 points, while Grace Price and Brooke Smith had three, Kalianhni Jacklick and Faith Ellis each with two and Sophie Stephenson with one.

The seventh-grade boys also won a pair of games this week. On Thursday, the Panthers won 34-30 at Springdale Central. Nathan Vachon led with 17 points, while Dalton Newman had six, Conner Clayton and Gabriel Cruz four each and Andrew Pilcher three.

The Panthers defeated Stilwell Maryetta 36-21 on Wednesday. Conner Clayton led with 10 points, while Dalton Newman had seven, Camden Blackfox six, Nathan Vachon and Jaxson Spence each with four, Andrew Pilcher and Levi Fox with two and Wilson Cunningham one.

The seventh-grade teams wrap up their season Wednesday against Colcord, Okla.
