Veda Park Sappington, 81, of West Siloam Springs, Okla., died Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at Sequoyah Manor in Sallisaw, Okla.

She was born on Jan. 27, 1937, near Fiddler’s Bend on Flint Creek in Flint, Okla., to Thomas Kirkland Park and Virgie Mason Park. She managed and cooked for several local restaurant­s with her sister, including the Wagon Wheel, the Back 40, the Eastgate Café and the Youree Café, along with managing a restaurant in Decatur. She was a great cook and baker, she liked going to the casino and to yard sales.

She was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Wayne Sappington; one brother, Duane Park; and two sisters, Wanda Keating and Leota Kendrick.

She is survived by five children, Sherri Williams and husband Ray of Westville, Okla., Sandy Cox of Henryetta, Okla., John Sappington and wife Marla of Siloam Springs, Ark., Jodi Smith and husband Michael of South Greasy, Okla., and Jimmy Mitchell and wife Melisa of West Siloam Springs; her twin sister, Vada Cross of Siloam Springs; 18 grandchild­ren; 40 great-grandchild­ren; and eight great-greatgrand­children.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 19, 2018, at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at the Johnson Cemetery on Old Highway 33 behind Calvary Baptist Church in West Siloam Springs with Terry Eaves officiatin­g.
