Ninth-grade girls wrap up strong season

CENTERTON — The Siloam Springs ninth-grade girls wrapped up their season Thursday with a 42-25 victory against Bentonvill­e West.

The Lady Panthers finished in a three-way tie for the final regional spot but were on the short end of a tiebreaker.

West led 8-6 after the first quarter, but Siloam Springs (14-7) rallied for a 18-10 lead at halftime. The Lady Panthers carried a 29-19 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Jadyn Still hit five 3-pointers and led the Lady Panthers with 21 points, while Quincy Efurd and Mia Hevener each had five, Sydney Moorman and Julia Jackson each with four and Makenna Thomas three.

West won the boys game 41-22. The Wolverines led 11-6 after the first quarter and 25-12 at halftime. West extended its lead to 33-17 at the end of the third quarter.

Elijah Coffey led the Panthers (9-12) with eight points, while Will Gryder and Trey Whorton each with three, Colin Evers, Jared Clark, Jackson Ford each with two and Max Perkins and Solomon Hufford both with one. Eighth-grade

The eighth-grade boys picked up a win at home Thursday against Rogers Elmwood 42-18.

The Panthers led 12-5 after the first quarter and 23-8 at halftime. Siloam Springs pulled ahead 3312 going into the fourth quarter. Josh Stewart led the Panthers (810) with 13 points, while Brendan Lashley hit three 3-pointers and scored nine. Carter Winesburg scored seven points, while Jedidiah Hunter scored six and Caden Pharr five and Zach Jones two. Siloam Springs won the eighthgrad­e girls game 33-19. The Lady Panthers (7-11) led 5-4 after the first quarter and 14-10 at halftime. Siloam Springs extended its lead to 25-17 going into the fourth quarter. Seventh-grader Brooke Ross led the Lady Panthers with 12 points, while Halle Hernandez had 10, Reina Tiefel eight, Bethany Markovich two and Hannah Riley one. The eighth-grade teams return to action Wednesday in the I-49 Challenge at Lincoln Junior High School in Bentonvill­e. The eighthgrad­e girls play Lincoln at 4 p.m., followed by the boys against the Leopards at 5:15 p.m.
