SSHS basketball teams fall in conference tournament

The Siloam Springs girls basketball team was defeated 55-42 by Sheridan on Saturday in the opening round of the 6A-West Conference Tournament.

Diamond Morris scored 31 points as the 2017 6A state runner-up Lady Yellowjack­ets punched their ticket to the Class 6A State Tournament.

Sheridan (22-5), the No. 2 seed, led 19-9 after the first quarter and 28-18 at halftime. Siloam Springs pulled to within 34-28 going into the fourth quarter where they were outscored 21-14.

Morgan Vaughn led Siloam Springs (8-20) with 18 points, while Hadlee Hollenback had 10, Chloe Price five, Shelby Johnson four, Jael Harried three and Kenlie Noel two.

Siloam Springs, the No. 7 seed, was scheduled to play an eliminatio­n game at El Dorado on Tuesday, with a state tournament berth on the line. Results were not available at presstime.

Boys

Lake Hamilton 65, Siloam Springs 29 The No. 1 seed Wolves clinched their state tournament berth with a mercy rule win over the Panthers on Saturday at Wolf Arena.

The Wolves (25-4) led 13-5 after the first quarter and 29-17 at halftime. Lake Hamilton increased its lead to 48-25 going into the fourth quarter, where it outscored the Panthers 17-4.

Lane Kersey led the Wolves with 17 points.

Spencer Lashley led the No. 8 seed Panthers (622) with 11 points, while Evan Sauer had eight and Murphy Perkins, Coleman Honea, Thad Wright and Jacob Wakefield each with two.

The Panthers were scheduled to play an eliminatio­n game at Greenwood on Tuesday. Results were not available at presstime.
