Storm Spotter training
The National Weather Service will be conducting storm spotter training in the Walmart Auditorium at NWACC in Bentonville at 7 p.m. on March 14. The NWS will train members of police and fire departments, emergency management officials, local news outlets and amateur radio operators on spotting techniques. The goal of the training is not to just recognize tornadoes, but to have some understanding of storm structure, which in turn better prepares the spotter for the extreme and unusual circumstances. Other topics to be covered include an update on the latest NWA technology and procedures.
